Matthew - an award-winning UK-based writer and editor specialising in guides and service articles - joined the Nintendo Life team in May 2026.

Before running his own publication One More Catch and freelancing for the likes of The Guardian and Mobilegamer.biz, he served as Deputy Editor for Service at Polygon between 2023 and 2025, leading the site’s guides and service team and helping it grow in an increasingly competitive search landscape.

Prior to that, he spent six years at Eurogamer, starting as Guides Editor before becoming Associate Editor and Managing Editor, overseeing major audience growth through trend-focused coverage and evergreen strategy across some of gaming’s biggest titles, including Pokémon Go, Fortnite, Destiny, and Animal Crossing.

Earlier in his career, Matthew was Gaming Editor at Digital Spy, earning multiple Games Media Awards. As well as being a BAFTA member, he's helped judge the BAFTA Games Awards and Independent Games Festival, and has some hands-on development experience, having self-coded and released an Xbox Live Indie Game back in the Xbox 360 era.
