It's official - Sora from the Kingdom Hearts series will be the final fighter to join the battle in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
As part of this announcement, it's Smash Bros. tradition to add the latest character to the game's stunning and ever-expanding mural. Sora slots in between Dark Samus and Ganondorf - completing the roster.
Sora will be available as a DLC fighter in Smash Bros. Ultimate on October 18th. If you have already purchased Fighters Pass Vol. 2, you'll have immediate access to the character when he's released.
And here's an even closer look at Sora in the above banner:

Wow that hits hard!

"Third-Party companies can only have one character."
"Third-Party companies can only have one franchise."
"Cloud is never going to be in Smash, he has no relation to Nintendo, his game was never released on Nintendo hardware."
"Bayonetta is never going to be in Smash, she is too sexy, her game is too violent and she uses guns."
"Snake is never going to come back, Konami doesn't make games anymore, they only care for pachinkos, and Kojima was fired, same goes for Simon Belmont, he will never be in Smash."
"Ridley is never going to be in Smash, he is too big, he can't work as a Fighter."
"Third-Party companies can only have two characters."
"Third-Party franchises can only have one character."
"K. Rool is never going to be in Smash, he is dead and irrelevant, he is missing for over a decade, he was removed from his own franchise and was replaced with other villains."
"K. Rool only appears at the end of the SNES games as the final boss, he is not that popular, many people who played the Donkey Kong Country games never saw him."
"K. Rool is owned by Rare and Microsoft, he is not coming to Smash."
"Bandana Dee is never going to be in Smash, he is just a generic enemy, a Goomba with a hat, it would be really stupid to turn a generic mook into a Fighter."
"If a character is already part of the moveset of another character, then this character is disconfirmed and can't be a real Fighter as well."
"Snake and Bayonetta don't count, characters who are too violent and use guns cannot be in Smash."
"Cloud doesn't count, characters who have no relation to Nintendo cannot be in Smash."
"Erdrick or Luminary are never going to be in Smash, the Dragon Quest series is only popular in Japan, characters need to be popular worldwide."
"Banjo will never be in Smash, he is dead, irrelevant, literal who, he has no importance to the history of Nintendo or the history of videogames, he is missing for over a decade, only boomers care about him, his DLC would fail in sales and they should give the spot for someone important, Third-Party characters need relevance, if they are going to add a Microsoft character, it's going to be Steve from Minecraft, and don't compare him with K. Rool because he is First-Party."
"We are not going to have a Microsoft character in Smash, Nintendo and Microsoft are competitors."
"Smash Bros. is only for Japanese characters, Western characters cannot join."
"Terry is never going to be in Smash, that leak is fake, no one know who he is and no one asked for him, no one knows what SNK does."

"Smash Ultimate is only going to get one Fighter Pass, no more DLC after that."
Removed - unconstructive
Anyone have a super HD version of the whole thing? Like stitched together or something so it's not super blurry when you zoom in? I NEED this as a poster
Just sell me the poster Nintendo, please.
@victordamazio LMAO!
@Ryu_Niiyama i'd buy that
Sora looks like he's gonna fall on zss's head
@Ryu_Niiyama Agreed. Give me a whole thing that spans half my wall. I would buy that instantly
Incredible, looks beautiful.
I was one of the people hoping for Crash Bandicoot, though Sora makes sense with going to different worlds...then again, Crash 4 would allow this to happen too. Alas, this ship has sailed.
If only Toad was a playable character then the complete roster in Mario Kart 64 would had been a part of that mural. We got Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Bowser, and Wario but no Toad. Captain Toad would had been a nice surprise but oh well it's done now. At least the complete playable roster of Street Fighter 1 is there.
@Snatcher And the sad thing is that people still don't learn:
"Only the Spirits released at launch can be promoted to DLC, the Spirits released in updates can't."
"Characters who are already Mii Costumes will never be promoted to Fighters with DLC."
"Free Mii Costumes can be promoted to Fighters with DLC, but paid Mii Costumes can't, it would be a scam to sell the character as a Costume, then sell the same character as a Fighter."
"Characters who are already Assist Trophies will never be promoted to Fighters with DLC."
"Games that had a Spirit Event will not get a character in Smash, even the characters who didn't become Spirits are disconfirmed."
"Characters from gory and violent games like Doom, Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil and GTA are still impossible."
"Cloud and Joker appeared as cameos in games released on Nintendo platforms, we just can't have a character that never appeared at all in any game on a Nintendo hardware."
"Waluigi will never be in Smash because he is irrelevant, only appears in spin-offs, has no moveset potential, has no personality, and was never in any mainline Mario game, Waluigi is just a meme."
"Isaac will never be in Smash because the Golden Sun series failed in sales, only had three games, and doesn't have a new game for over a decade."
"I don't care if there's a Piranha Plant in this game, Bandana Waddle Dee will never be in Smash because he is boring, and irrelevant to his own franchise, he only exists to be the Player 4, he is worse than a Piranha Plant."
"Geno will never be in Smash because he is dead, irrelevant, literal who, he has no importance to the history of Nintendo or videogames, he is missing for over 20 years, only boomers care about him, his DLC would fail in sales and they should give the spot for someone important, Third-Party characters need relevance, and if they are adding one more Square-Enix character it should be another, and don't compare him with Banjo because at least Banjo is the main character of his franchise which had 5 games while Geno is irrelevant to his own franchise and was only in one game."
"Shantae will never be in Smash, her games never sold well with only 3 million copies sold, many indie games sold more than that and are way more popular, Matt Bozon had to beg to get her just as a Spirit in Ultimate, plus, Shantae games aren't good and her fans are just horny."
"Saber will never be in Smash because her game is porn, actual porn."
"Reimu, Marisa, or any other Touhou character, will never be in Smash, Touhou Project is just a niche indie franchise made by one guy and is only popular in Japan, Nintendo has no business with it."
"Characters need to be relevant to their own games to join Smash, stop supporting characters like Geno, Waluigi and Bandana Dee, at least characters like Ness, Ice Climbers, R.O.B., Wii Fit Trainer, Piranha Plant and Banjo are important in their games or are the main characters."
"Indie characters like Shantae, Shovel Knight, Quote and Hat Kid will never be in Smash."
"Stop asking for characters from mobile games like Dragalia Lost and Fire Emblem Heroes, mobile games aren't real games."
"Franchises that never sold well in Japan like Spyro, Rayman or Mortal Kombat, or never had their games released in Japan like StarTropics, will never be in Smash."
"Franchises like Digimon and Yo-Kai Watch are competitors to Pokémon, they will never get a rep in Smash."
"Forgotten and obscure Nintendo characters like Takamaru, Mach Rider, Prince of Sablé and Mike Jones don't have a chance."
Well, those survived the current game.
There is always another game, but let's enjoy the current one first.
I think it's really cool he was able to get all the companies involved to cooperate to make it happen for the fans.
That being said...
WAAAHHHH
Smash Deluxe for Super Switch will add Crash, Eggman, Skull Kid, Rayman, Spyro and Scorpion plus a few more echoes! All previous DLC included but no new DLC. That's my bet.
Sora was the actual winner of the Smash Fighter Ballot for the final DLC of Smash Wii U/3DS, but because Disney Japan denied it they had to move on to the next possible fighter which ended up being Bayonetta, but now they finally got to actually release the real winner of the ballot.
Fitting that he is the final DLC fighter since that was what was originally intended for the previous Smash Bros; what a great finale. 😁
I know they said smash ultimate is a celebration of gaming in general but for me its the closest we'll ever get to a massive JRPG fighting game lol
This concludes the 2.5D smash bros, I look forward to the next one in five years that will be 3D
And so, the Ultimate Fight is complete... But it's far from over! Keep on fighting, Super Smashers!
@victordamazio - I dunno, someone made a good point about Disney and what the new Smash would be like.
It will be damn near impossible to match the sheer capacity of content Ultimate has and then some without already starting development already by a year. We are looking at a 7 year development for Ultimate, a new one would be nowhere near that level.
The other option is port and update Ultimate directly, but Disney has a track record of being an absolute pill to work with. So porting Ultimate to Switch 2 would also be quite an endeavor.
Correction: Disney garbage added to the mural.
Couldn't even be bothered to add some stylized reflections in the blade, so it wouldn't melt into sky behind it.
That's what we get.
Ah well. 5 out of 6 ain't bad. Was really hoping for Mortal Kombat representation for the last one.
Good to see the completed mural. That said...
The miracle never happen.

@FineLerv - I think K. Rool was the only one selected out of my list of (reasonable) desires.
There was a few surprises though, like P. Plant, that had me excited to try them, but that was about it.
@Judal27 Adventure mode has a skill tree and everything!
@Paraka I liked them all for what they were - an excuse for me to log on to Smash again and do some single player content. But the fighting game characters always gave me a buzz because without the genre being such a huge part of growing up in the 90s I might never have gotten into Smash in the first place.
@victordamazio everything there became true, except bandana dee
@FineLerv - I think that's reflective of our current expectations of experiencing a game. The constant "need" for updates when it comes to new games.
Seen a lot of "this game is dead," mantras once something stops active production of content. ARMS being a notable one from this site. Sure, brings you in for a bit of extra single player, but you're gone once it's "done." Though that's not on just the player, but for Smash specifically, said a lot about how the single player works in Ultimate.
Not calling you out specifically, but your statement has reminded me of that.
Lame choice but that is what they went with. Would have been nice if they went out on a high note, but instead disappointment is what it is.
@JayJ He was literally the most requested fighter from the ballot? Disappointment from you maybe but for millions of others (who aren't even kh fans) they are either ecstatic or "OK" with his inclusion.
Regardless of who the last fighter was they were never going to please everyone
@Bizzyb Sounds like some old poll that was conducted in Japan many years ago, not exactly something that is relevant to me.
@Paraka I suppose it all comes from opening Pandora's box. As soon as a model becomes popular, it gets standardised, and then there's no going back. Free-to-play, continuous updates, the rapid devaluation of games (where anything 6 months old should be a budget title), and so on. Nobody is stopping to see where this is all going.
Not me, though. I still play my Wii U. But with Switch which is no longer able to play on the TV, Smash is purely a single player eexperience for me - one in which I've done everything. Which is why I've welcomed each new fighter because it gives me a reason to log on.
@FineLerv - I think there is a reason many still play single player Melee, many in fact (sans the FGC side). It's because each bout was "random" per se.
The single player in Ultimate is rigid, specific, intentional. You play it once, well, you played it.
Sort of wished we had something like Melee's fight structure, mixed with 3DS choose-your-challenge. Mostly I play the spirit events and repeat the 100 man brawl to see how much more I can beat. But the "Classic" mode... It's just not enough for me.
@Paraka For myself, I liked the Spirit Adventure mode thing enough to play through it twice. Classic mode I've gone through with every character. I think my hours logged on Ultimate is pretty ridiculous considering I mostly have played it Single player.
I guess it depends on what you want from Single player in a fighting game. Nowadays, an arcade mode isn't enough for me personally. But for others, it's all they want.
