@Knuckles ah thanks for the correction. The connection is still there enough to make this rumor a reality though.

Considering that (spoiler alert)

Eggman ends up in a dimension full of mushrooms and the first level of sonic 3 is Mushroom hill zone this rumor tracks.

Could have used this last night when I did this shine. Ended up jumping off my blooper onto a faster blooper somehow and then couldn't control it and crashed into a wall...

@Onion I HATED tik tok clock... it was by far the worst level in the game

@RustedHero you are right. I didnt have an n64 or a snes growing up. I had a sega and a playstation. So I missed a lot of the hype with Mario 64.

I did try playing it on virtual console on the wii and quit. With this collection I decided I am going to play all 3 start to finish. It took me 3 days to beat 64 and it was filled with rage.

I did have a gamecube and sunshine and LOVED galaxy. I started sunshine yesterday and so far so good it is what I remember, but I am sure that it will have its moments.

That being said I am 100% with you to not judge an old game by today's standards and I maintain that I do see the greatness that would have been there originally. BUT it would be hard to say it hasn't aged poorly.

I got all 120 stars, that was a first for me with 64, but i think it will also be one of those things that never happens for me again for fear of my controller going through a wall.

@nab1 im not faulting it for its design. I even went so far as to say I see why it was praises so much. The problem is playing it today it does not hold up.

@nessisonett I beat 64 this weekend all 120 stars and hated every minute of it from star 80 on.

I know why it was praised back in the day but it really is the worst of the 3d mario games just due to design alone.

I loved the first 3 games. This is a must buy for me. I wasnt a fan of the fourth game though so hopefully we get another game like this!
