No killer app, hardly any original games and too expensive. Doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure this one out. The last time a home console had those three issues, it had the letter U in its surname (except that one was affordable!)

Yikes. No games, no buzz, no innovation, too costly; Switch 2 is a masterclass in how not to run a console launch. Fire Furukawa now please.

@Suketoudara Furukawa is not a gamer. That's PR boilerplate talk. He was an accountant and director working his way up the various analysis divisions in the company. Iwata on the other hand had a direct hand in developing, producing and shaping Pokemon Gold Silver, Smash, Earthbound and the early Kirby series among others, coming up through the gaming division.

@Nintendoh Yes. Here is the wager. I say that the Switch 2 will get outsold in Black Friday 2026 by the PS5. $100 on the line.

Author states that Christmas 2026 is looking up. I might add that with GTA6 supposedly launching Q4, the switch 2 will once again struggle to find any foothold and will lose next year too. Just saying. That juggernaut is coming.

@michellelynn0976 The Switch 1 not only beat Sony and Microsoft on Black Friday 2017 (and Holiday 2017), but was the hottest selling OVERALL tech Q4 2017. An absolute beast. Switch 2 however..um....was beat by a 5 year old console. Just stating facts.

@Orwellian87 I don't think the American counterparts have much say in the Japanese company. I guess they're more spokesperson than anything?

This is the game all of us wish we had when we were growing up in the 90s. Glad to see it on a Nintendo console and happy to support the devs!

Hate to say it but Nintendo is toast. If you can't even win the first holiday after your new CONSOLE LAUNCH you are in big big trouble. And the sooner they can Furukawa, the better. The company was run by men who knew gaming. Now it's run by beancounters.

Thank you so much for being brave enough to state the obvious. I love the game, but 8 was generational. 8 took Youtube and the Zeitgeist by storm. EVERYONE was playing it, talking about it. Streaming it live. This time around, World is almost forgotten. Check the streams of it if you're not convinced. It may affect the long term sales of 2, but time will be the judge.

Metal Slug Tactics!!!! It's one of the best strategy games EVA!!!!

I hope that it's nearly as gripping as Metal Slug Tactics. That game is addictive as all get out. Also, hoping for a physical release! But I'm not holding my breath on either of those!
