It has a huge problem with screen tearing on the FMV's and sometimes in gameplay.

This is a shame.
I feel like putting the PS3 away for good now.
I have that feeling to only play a PS3 on a HDTV now.

This is amazing. Spent 50 euro on it and warrenty is now done and now it won't work.
Lovely day. Goodbye.

Um, what? I have a standard definition TV, and FFXIII works fine for me. I've not noticed any kind of glitch.

Really? Brilliant,i'm sure you can explain to me why it is screen tearing on my TV.
Don't put me out to be a liar please because I have the backup.

Case Closed.
They screwed up and please do not deny it.
I'd be understandable if they told us it wouldn't display correctly in SDTV format's but no. They sold the game and they knew we would have this issue because some people emailed them and right out of the box they said it was only supposed to be played in 720p and upwards.

Doesn't matter to me,I am getting a job where they pay alot of money so I won't have to deal with anymore of this crap.

Oh brilliant.

Here's a better one: Lets pretend that ALL Playstation 3s get the yellow light of death because SOME people lucked out!

Remember, you said:

FF13 doesn't work on SDTV's for anyone wondering.

Which is incorrect. It doesn't work on YOUR SDTV.

Now, if we can stop being obnoxious for a moment, I have a serious question:

I'm considering getting a PSP, because I'd love to play my Playstation games on the go - can anyone tell me - are you able to copy over Playstaion/ Playstation mini games from the PS3 to the PSP? Or does it require streaming? There's not many wireless spots in Australia, so streaming isn't an option, the only way the PSP will be any good to me is if I can outright copy games to the console.

That's cool, but once again I've experienced no tearing at all. It could be the TV settings, it could be what PS3 you're using, I don't know.

But again, FFXIII quite clearly does work on some SDTVs

Screen tearing has to do with the game and TV.
The game can only displays in 720p.(they never said this before the game came out, real nice.)

Yes its my problem that I don't have an HDTV but why in God's name do these developers keep thinking that HD is 100%?
Couldn't they put in some sort of SDTV option?

Next generation,HD can be 100%,no excuses but this gen,no. Just no.
They should have atleast put in some SDTV modes.

So why do most games work for me on my SDTV?
Why does GTA4 display correctly?

How come this game(FFXIII) doesn't display correctly?
See,I get the feeling your defending these guys at Square enix for an issue they made themselves.

No statements on whether it should be played on a TV thats 720p upwards before realese.
They must been really really hungry for money if thats how they are going about this.

And, once again, I am playing the game right now on a SDTV. With no screen tearing at all.

It's unfortunate that you've hit what seems to be a fairly common glitch, but no, it's not a universal problem.

Giltch? No,you mean a terrible dumb mistake on their part.
Because a game thats in development for about 5 years and a simple issue like this gets by? Is this a joke?

I find this gen needs better beta testers.
I mean that big time.

They should have had the V-Sync enabled for this game but no.
Atleast they are motivating me to finally buy an HDTV either this year or next.

I really was excited to play this amazing game and now I cannot due to a simple error.
If anyone is also hit by this problem, maybe you'd understand how annoying it is unlike some people here are arrogant and don't care for others.

I'm not the one that claimed that the game outright "doesn't work." It DOES for some people on SDTVs.

This is just like your other thread. You make this massive statement as though it's the ultimate truth without taking into account the experience is different for other people.

The world doesn't revolve around you. EA is just as bad when it comes to DLC as Activision, and Final Fantasy XIII does play perfectly fine on some SDTVs. I'm not being arrogant, I just don't want someone missing out on FFXIII because they were misguided into thinking that every single SDTV is incapable of playing the game. That's why I responded that "it actually does..."

Oh says the guy who "shoves his opinion down people's throats".
Your comments here are nothing more than sad and pathetic and you do nothing to contribute other than being a douch-bag to everyone else who has their own opinion.

No,not every SDTV is affected and your still going back to my previous comment, which I do realise the mistake in that comment and will be fixed.
And yes you are being arrogant,as always.

Not really. I'm also entitled to disagree with someone's opinion, and I say so. Especially when the opinion is factually incorrect (remember, having an opinion and being correct are two different things entirely).

I'm not quite sure what you think you contribute here, but in the last few posts you've just proven that you can be quite rude and defensive. I was just trying to clarify something that I hadn't experienced, and you snapped and started attacking me. That's not very nice, at all.

I'm glad you're going to go back and fix up that comment. Then we can be in agreement As you'll notice, I did say that it sucks that it seems to be such a widespread glitch, especially from Square Enix, who is pretty well renowned for high production values.

@WaltzElf: I just want to work out whether or not there's any significant difference between your TV and Sean's. What kind of cables are you using? The problems are widely associated with composite. If you have an SDTV that supports component cables (like the one in my family's living room), you may avoid the issue that way. Otherwise, I'm at a loss to explain your good fortune.

@Sean: I'm truly sorry to hear you can't play your game for such a stupid reason, but ranting like that won't help. Which is why I'm trying to discern differences in setups between you and WaltzElf. You really should've asked that first thing he said he had no problems.

Also, generally speaking, the PS3 isn't designed for SDTV's. Many games are letterboxed and/or have tiny text because they were designed for larger HD sets. Fact is, the Xbox 360 is better in that ONE aspect.

My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P

I'd happily be rude to someone who IS rude. My pleasure.
Yeah and I can say the same to you, your opinion is flawed.
Some people have been hit by this.so now what? are we supposed to buy an HDTV just to play this damn game, this is a damn recession, some people have no jobs anymore and now they expect us to fork up money for a HDTV. Sorry but that is BS.
They can easily just reconfigure the next set of copies to have SDTV resolution and they can give us a refund too.

And I am not saying the game is bad or it sucks,I am dying to literally play this game and I can't.
How am i supposed to play it now?
I have no job until late this year or next year.
I mean come on,I'm out of warranty with the game now and thats 60 euros gone.

Let start it up,Maybe its not so bad...

I am using the cables that came with the PS3.
No HDMI,or any special S-video cables.
Just the normal ones. (Sorry I'm not too keen on TV's and their cables lol)

Yes I apologize for my ranting. I need to calm down.
I have played some of the tutorial to test it out and I'll just say...its not TOO bad.
You can see the screen tearing, but its not game breaking per say, just kinda annoying.

You can see screen tearing tho on the square enix logo when you start the game up tho....which is just...I dunno...screen tearing on the start screen?...I just don't get it and I feel I am not in for a pretty ride.

How long of a warranty did you have Sean?

Since you skipped over me I will say, if you had a warranty with the game, why did you not check the game to see if it worked so you could use and enforce the warranty. No need to reply to this

Oh sorry,I'm on my PS3 now just sorting stuff out with Music and pictures. lol
Its alright, the warranty actually ends TODAY...
But its alright because the game doesn't look TOO bad...

Damnit..i always do this crap.
I over-react.
Oh well, still gonna buy that HDTV I always wanted.

Heres a question for you guys, does your PS3 or 360 get hotter depending on how good a games graphics are?
i know its an obvious sort of question but i just want to make sure my PS3 isn't gonna die because it does get kinda warm very fast.

@Sean: No problem. I deleted my latest comment so you wouldn't take it harshly. I'm glad to see you didn't

My PS3 heats up, but i've never had any issues with the heat of the console. Longest session probably being 5 hours a while back.

Cool,I know I've played for that long too a few times.
I am really scared my PS3 will just die tho.

I have invested quite alot in my PS3 since I got it and I just haven't got the money to fix it.
I know if it does die,I am gonna try talk to the manager on the phone and I'll act all sad and see if they can fix my PS3 free of charge.....hey it has happened to people lol
