The last winners celebration of 2020: Congratulations to Biscuit, Valdien, lifer, Dark Kariya, Splunge and the_BACH - you all have FULL POINTS and won this round!
Also Kudos to Gerhard S, Franky Mikey, residentgrigo and Excelsior - together you are the Top 10.
The first year of the new decade is over, and I'd like to announce some overall winners (and winning forums) from all the contestants and points of 2020. The german language forums already got their high scores last week, so now it's about time for the english communities.
As this quiz is a competition among several online forums (23 in total!), I'd like to explain how you score points for your forum.
SCORE HIGH
If you make it to the top 10 in any of the quizzes, you gather between one and five points for your forum.
ENDURANCE
Frequent participation also gets you (between one and four) points for your forum, that's how you can contribute even without lots of nerd knowledge.
Alright, this is how the participating forums have made it through the year:

A round of applause, 4th place for the NintendoLife!
That's the biggest year-on-year gain in the entire table, you were on place 17 in the previous year, so good job.
There were five new forums last year: the Canard PC, Gamers Global, last game standing, Shock² and the Spazio PC. Welcome! There was also the "Gaming Village", but that's the (already participating) exiled community of the shut down website "Gaming Universe". The "Dialogoption" Community has been switched off for months, just as a zombie does it still participate in the ranking. The "Gamepro" Forum has been shut down as well, survivors have split between a Discord Channel and the sister community "Gamestar".
Before I forget, here the results of the last survey:
The easiest vs the hardest riddle:
The best vs the worst riddle:
You really liked the "Five Themes" and the "Frankensteins", but seems like the "zoom-out quiz" was a bit controversial. Got it.

Lots of thanks to all of you for participating - if there weren't hundreds of people playing, I would have stopped long ago. So thanks for making this fun for me too.
Thanks for this year of fun quizzing, @Mr_Horizon!
I think that no matter how skilled (=how much of a game nerd) you may be, anyone in the top ranks will have put up an effort into plugging those holes to get closer to a perfect month.. I know I went full-on OCD on some of the pictures.
I really like that we went up so far as a forum. I didn't understand the point system at first, as the images aren't working but checked on resetera: @Dogorilla passed the 30 consistent month mark to get to four points!? That's serious dedication, too. No one on resetera has the same four points for frequent participation!
@lifer Oh I'm surprised nobody on resetera has been participating for as long as I have, but I guess I have been doing it for a while now
Thanks again to @Mr_Horizon for all the effort you put into these quizzes!
Out of curiosity, what would a perfect score be for the whole year?
Usually a perfect score is between 250 and 260, depending on how many rounds with bonus points were there. But in 2020 we had the zoom-out quiz... if you had recognised every single game on the first zoom level, that round would have gotten you 75(!) points. No one got even close to that of course, but because of that round the maximal score for the last season was 307.
Thanks for this year of fun quizzing, @Mr_Horizon!
You are both very welcome!
And about getting the 4 points for endurance... yes you need to play for 30(!) consecutive rounds, and a total of 12 people have that bonus at the moment. Dogorilla is at 34 rounds, and Red XIII from the M!Games community is the most faithful of them all, with a crazy 56.

I'm glad I'm able to contribute to the overall forum score somehow despite my fairly average gaming knowledge!
Wait what, a new year? Then let's get to it! Massive first person shooter guns, oversized artillery in strategy games, the laser satellite of a mad scientist or straight to a planet killing super weapon? This round we got it all, just making sure everything explodes a whole lot more than it usually would.
Do you recognise everything? No?! Well, then enter a game of your choice at the bonus question, as this year we'll have another "make a wish" round that is completely built from user requests.
@Dogorilla: You'll get a set of hints this friday, so don't worry.
@lifer: All 25 entries are games, but several people have dug up a certain "4 word abbreviation" for number 21, which is puzzling to me, where do you get this from? I can't/won't say more on the topic for now.
I immediately recognized it as the abbreviation thing from a work related incidence in the past. I'd think it's quite well known. Probably more so than most games in the lineup this time...?
So is that answer wrong then?
Ready, Aim, Fire - you know the drill, this months "big gun" theme just takes it up a few notches. Twentyfive people are already in on this challenge, even though the difficulty is quite painful once again (oops?). Anyway, here is the first set of clues! Maybe you'll recognise some more titles now.
Clues #1:
1) The games 2, 13, 18 and 20 are famous J-RPGs. 2) Number 5 and 21 are installments of well known realtime strategy series. 3) With the titles 4, 7, 14 and 16 we can see first person shooters. 4) And game 9 is a western RPG highly praised for its grown up storytelling.
