I don't believe you bought 100 Rosalinas. For one thing, there's a limit to how many of one item you can buy online. 3 or 4 or so, depending on who you buy it from. That is far too many to acquire even with a lot of "friends and relatives". You're a lier and a troll. Please leave.
Not that I don't question this user's authenticity, but buying 100 of a specific figure is quite feasible depending on its exclusivity status. Simply purchase the maximum amount of one product from one online retailer then switch to another store. Assuming each shop permits three amiibos (a balanced figure I'm throwing out for argument's sake - some allow more), you can hit up local places like GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, New Egg, Future Shop, Sears, and Toys 'R Us.
That's nearly 30/100 right there. There are plenty more retailers that I'm not naming as well as various Amazon marketplace sellers and eBay merchants. Assuming you don't tap into either (or use the many relatively cheap options for importing them), all you need is three or four friends and you're set. This would only take 2-3 hours if you've got all the information on hand and go about it systematically. Combined with the relatively cheap price of amiibos, you're looking at roughly $1500-2000 (slightly over/under $15 per figure with tax depending on region x 100 figures). This could be made in a month or two of working at minimum wage, so it's feasible that a 24 year old living with parents (to eliminate cost of living) could afford it using some cash hoarded away in the bank.
Mathematically, of course, the profit does not seem to justify the effort at this stage. If OP has only made $2000 in profit yet has spent $1750~ per 100 figurines pre-ordered, that's a sizable potential loss since OP referenced over 300 pre-ordered figures.

Neglecting travel costs, time collecting them from stores and storage space. But then this hasn't happened, so it's all hypothetical.

I was operating under the assumption that OP primarily did online orders; the base cost is around $1500. While you would inevitably have to pay for some to ship, many retailers offer free shipping when you hit a certain threshold. If you're buying multiple different amiibos from the same stores, it would be quite easy to hit $50-100 in one transaction.
As for time collecting them, I'm going with "unemployed" but perhaps OP stated otherwise somewhere. Storage space, too, would not be all that taxing when you can fit 50-100 amiibos into a large box.
I think both the sellers and the buyers are to blame for practices like this. Scalpers ask for ridiculously high prices, but as long as there are people crazy enough to buy the items for those prizes, this won't go away either. It takes the fun out of collecting. Even if I was interested in collecting amiibo, I wouldn't even bother trying due to the fact that there are people buying up all stock and reselling them for two, three, or five times the amount they were originally priced at.
The problem is that people paying those prices only pay those prices because they can't find them. They can't find them because people are going out and buying out all the stock so they can make a quick buck on ebay. If you really want something and can't find it in stores? What else are you going to do? This isn't the first time I've heard stories about people going into shops early and literally clearing out a shop's Amiibo stock, I heard it happening Day 1 in some local stores. So it happens.
I'm haven't personally been impacted by it yet because most of the Amiibos I have wanted so far have been fairly common ones. If however this is still happening months down the road with things like Megaman, King Dedede, ROB and Mr Game & Watch? I can see myself being tempted to go to a scalper. And it's not right.
Threadmaker should give away every Nintendo figure, every amiibo, every collectable, every Nintendo item he has. Give them away to people who deserve them. Shame on you old person, for hoarding all the amiibos, so the next generation has less. Shame on you.
The real question is why OP would still be using Photobucket in the year of our lord 2014.
I really don't care about social media for showing photos. I realize you are trying to take a jab at me but please stop trying its looking pathetic and your envy and jealousy is showing easily towards me.
The real question is, why does everyone here care whether or not he is a scumbag?
You might think he is below all the other amiibo collectors because he is buying then up-selling because of supply and demand, but what makes you the amiibo moral czar.
Good on you OP. Good luck selling those Rosalina figures.
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!

The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

Its an investment because I know they will be alll discontinued regardless. With all the knowledge and I have been through my collecting years its pretty obvious when smash bros line is done the smash bros mario amiibo will be replaced by the one on the back which is the standard mario amiibo. Also those shadows you have seen in the amiibo display of same characters that have smash amiibos will replace the smash amiibos. Your Welcome.

Obviously because we're jealous that we don't have the initial funds required to start such a spectacular venture.
Seriously, @Mario_TehPlumber, If there are suckers out there willing to buy your amiibos at inflated prices, more power to ya. But more often than not, people like this are usually people who already have plenty of money and are now trying to get even more money, so you probably shouldn't flaunt it. Better to be humble in cases like these, especially on a forum you just joined - random strangers you just met aren't likely to give a crap about your own personal success...
