Re: Video: Can You "Button Mash" Your Way to Victory in ARMS?

UGXwolf

Contrary to what I've seen others posting, I've found this game to have a surprising amount of depth. Understanding what actions counter what and knowing when you're at a safe distance to react to your opponent rather than getting punished because you didn't give yourself time to do anything about it are big key points in the strategy of the game. However, understanding how each character can move and what the various arms are capable of is also really important. I've found I like shock attribute arms because if I charge it and hit the opponent, I have a free moment to smack them with something else, grab them, or in some cases, unleash a deadly rush attack on them. Ribbon Girl makes this especially viable since she can drop to the ground at any point and that will charge her arms instantly.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of the Zelda: Breath of the Wild - The Master Trials DLC?

UGXwolf

The Hard mode is what I'm most excited for. Because nothing screams "fun" like making a game that already beat me bloody, before even harder!

Aside from that, the Trial of the Sword will bring me back, but won't last me very long. The Hero's Path is nice, as is the Traveler's Medallion. The outfits are cool, as is the idea of having some help finding those Koroks. I'm pretty excited for this. And just imagine, if this is the appetizer, what's the main course gonna be like?

Re: Video: The 10 Best Zelda Games As Selected By You

UGXwolf

Honestly, no one should be surprised that the most popular Zelda game and most commonly redone one is on top of the list. If nothing else, I guarantee it was the most common game on literally everyone's list. Few people really hate the game. Even I am only mildly disappointed at what it fails to accomplish in terms of story, but it's not like anyone expected Majora's Mask or Skyward Sword to be on the top of the list. The higher you get on the list, the more predictable the games get, especially considering this is a very Western website, giving the 3D games a massive edge on the handheld and 2D ones.

Dance title, dance title, party title, experimental title?, exercise title. Yup. Love it or hate it, guys, this is part of what made the Wii's library so popular with casuals. Besides, Mind Labyrinth looks somewhat interesting. In a... I'll watch a video and probably buy it when I see a $5 copy about a year from now... kinda way. Kinda like Wii Music! That game wasn't outright terrible, it just didn't constitute anything near a $50 value.

Re: Pokémon Omega Ruby & Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Confirmed For Worldwide 3DS Launch in November

UGXwolf

@Meaty-cheeky Hurt feelings. Cute. What do you think I am? A fanboy? If I was willing to outright skip two generations, I'd hardly call myself a fanboy. Besides, what have I got to be butthurt over? I agree that Gen 2 is the best, too. I just spent more time playing Gen 3, and it didn't get boring, even though I can't seem to bring myself to even try to finish Poke'mon Black. On top of that, it's not like I've lost my touch, or anything, since I didn't seem to mind beating Poke'mon X and playing around with the Friend Safari for a bit.

Also, competitive community in general can kindly shut their pie-holes. I never agree with them, in the first place because most of them take gaming way too seriously to the point that it just stops being fun. But that's an argument for another time.

Re: Pokémon Omega Ruby & Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Confirmed For Worldwide 3DS Launch in November

UGXwolf

@Meaty-cheeky Considering that I spent hundreds of hours on Gen 3 and played all three games and enjoyed them all, but can't even push myself to finish Pokemon Black version, I'd say that that's just your opinion. It's also like to point out that no one seems to agree with you, nostalgia or not. Besides, Pokemon art my age is nothing if not all about the nostalgia, so I'll be keeping my rose-tinted glasses on until such a time as I see fit to remove them. Thank you.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Must Take Careful Steps Into Paid DLC and Free-to-Play

UGXwolf

Soooo, I just crunched the numbers out of boredom. And because we don't have tax on downloadables, here, the game and season pass are going to cost me about 20 cents LESS than a full $40 game would. And this game is about twice the size of the usual Mario Golf title with a bigger roster, too, I think everyone is silly for complaining about this. It actually costs LESS this way.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Must Take Careful Steps Into Paid DLC and Free-to-Play

UGXwolf

How you feel about this depends entirely on how you look at the situation. There's a demo, there's the game itself, and then there's the bonus content. Respectively, that's free, $30, $42. I'll try it one step at a time, and if I feel the DLC isn't necessary, I won't bother. If I feel the game isn't worth my time, I won't buy it. It's that simple.

I think this is a great idea, but if you don't like it, well, I guess that sucks for you.

Re: Top 20 Wii U Games So Far - Part Two

UGXwolf

Personally, I'm gonna have to disagree with this list. DKCTF is probably my favorite game on this console. (Of course, it's not shocking that I say that, considering difficulty is my thing, which is also the reason it's not number 1. I still can't agree with Windwaker HD beating it, though.)

I'd also have to insist that we bump up New Super Mario Bros U a few spots because of New Super Luigi U. The DLC definitely fits, and even a stale Mario game isn't a bad game by any standards. (Not that anything on this list is.)

Re: A Sonic Boom Game is Dashing Towards Wii U and 3DS

UGXwolf

@Peach64 Man, that just seems like such an awful way to think about it. What if it really turns out to be good and everyone misses it, because they were convinced it'd be bad? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly a big Sonic fan, but I'd be willing to at least give it a chance to hype me. Who knows? I may get some friends together and play through this one.
