It's that time again, dear readers, for the North American Nintendo Download Update details. Around all of the buzz for My Nintendo, there are a number of new releases to choose from that could earn some precious Gold Points, along with some discounts and DLC to consider. Let's get to it.
Missed the European Nintendo Download update? Don't cry, it'll be alright - the details are right here.
Wii U eShop
Chronicles of Teddy: Harmony of Exidus (Aksys Games, $14.99) - A 2D platforming epic with RPG elements, Chronicles of Teddy has NPC interaction, over 30 hours of gameplay and a lot of unlockables. The visuals look particularly attractive here, seemingly with plenty of gameplay variety thrown into the mix - we'll bring you a review soon.
Lovely Planet (tinyBuild Games, $9.99, 15% off until 5th May for those with the E3@Home demo on the same Nintendo Network ID) - A colourful and charming shooter, you run jump and shoot your way through stages as artfully as possible; the publisher describes it as a 'gun ballet'. It looks lovely, as the name suggests, and we'll bring you a review soon.
PixlCross (PixlBit Studios, $5.99) - Utilising GamePad controls for solving and creating Picross puzzles, developer PixlBit studios has also focused on the user interface and Miiverse features. You'll be able to share creations on Miiverse (and elsewhere) with puzzle IDs, and also browse and download others from in the game; beyond that there'll be plenty of offline solo play puzzles. We'll have a review and interview about the game with you soon.
6-Hand Video Poker (Skunk Software, $6.00) - This is exactly as it promises, a recreation of the video poker machines you'd perhaps find in Las Vegas; we'll make a bet and bring you a review.
Now I Know My ABCs (Skunk Software, $2.49) - A slice of edutainment that aims to teach young children the alphabet by colour coding the letters, helping them learn upper and lower cases and serving it all with a dose of positive reinforcement. We'll see whether it's as easy as 1, 2, 3 in our review.
Wii U Virtual Console
Mario Super Sluggers (Nintendo, $19.99) - The latest Wii download to land on the Wii U eShop, this was rather popular back in the day for blending an iconic sport in the Americas with Mario wackiness and motion controls. Naturally there's multiplayer and a host of modes, some incorporating plenty of twists on the sport. We certainly had some fun with it in our original Mario Super Sluggers review.

I'm surprised Mario Super Sluggers is coming as a download. I really liked that game!
P.S. I know this isn't the place to ask, but is there a forum where I can give a away a 3DS download code I don't need?
Pokken Tournament demo for me.
A bit surprsied the mobile thing isn't on the list.
Got Super Mario Sluggers physically a month back or so. It's getting hard to find at a good price.
@Shirma_Akayaku Nintendo Life has a forum, and what's the download code?
@ThomasBW84 Lovely Planet releases in North America next Thursday.
Yay, Star Fox....oh wait.
At least we got the Pokken demo! I don't see me getting the game due to money, but that's a little something.
@Shirma_Akayaku Probably the forums somewhere. May I ask what game it is?
@Tops That's quite disappointing.
I can't pass up free, so Pokken for sure.
I will pickup Super Sluggers as well. I still have and play the Wii disc, but I'll get it again since I love it so much.
@DarthNocturnal Super Sluggers feels pretty similar. The gameplay is pretty much the same, it still has Toy Field, it has more characters, and a more fleshed-out story mode. Some minigames return (like the homerun derby and wall ball) and the some of the new minigames are fun. (Although there are some lackluster minigames.)
@Whopper744 @XCWarrior It's just a Flipnote Studio 3D code. I already have that, but I don't need another.
@DarthNocturnal I think it's just as good. Maybe a little better. A lot of good characters included. Motion if you want it, but can turn it off.
@Shirma_Akayaku Ah ok. Well, the other guy asked first so if he's interested, he can have it. (or girl. Sorry) No private messages here though. May have to go the random route on the forums. I'm not near wifi right now anyway
Only the EU got the Fire Emblem Awakenings dlc discounts?
i was fully expecting other m to show up. hmf.
Waiting for Star Fox64, Waiting for Super Mario RPG.
:/
I'll take the free demo of Pokken since I backed out of my pre-buy on it.
@Shirma_Akayaku Ah gotcha, yeah post it on the forum. Also have it as well.
Nothing for this week since I'm going to catch up on downloading 2 other games from 1-2 weeks ago.
Wish that Pokken Tournament Demo came last week (or week before). It would of help satisfy my urge to play until today.
...6-Hand Video Poker, even tho I only have two hands..
Maybe the Pokken Tournament demo. Otherwise, nothing for me.
Pixl Cross
Mario Super Sluggers
Pokken demo for me
@XCWarrior "A bit surprsied the mobile thing isn't on the list."
I was just thinking this morning how until we get some NX news this website is going to be a constant barrage of news about Miitomo and "My Nintendo" as those mobile apps update at least weekly and those "My Nintnedo" offers will probably change regularly as well.
News is good, facts are facts, but I'm glad Miitomo isn't on the list. On the flipside (not to be confused w/ Flipnote) PushSquare has been running an almost endless stream of FFXV news, but at least that's a real game, 10 years in the making. If Nintendo Life wants to start running Zelda U news constantly I'm ok with that. Heck I encourage that at this point.
Pixl Cross
Mario Super Sluggers
@Whopper744 You can have it if you want. Let's just do it at this forum:
https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/3ds/n-lifes_official_flipnote_sharing_thread
Nothing this week.
Mario Super Sluggers is a great game - I think it was our 2nd most played game on Wii after 300+ hours of SSBB. Then Ntinedo took the channel away that recorded all of our time so we lost track
But we still play it on Wii U with the Wii disc, don't see any reason for us to pay $20 for the download. I recommend it though, even if you don't like baseball the short mini-jrpg was pretty fun for $20. Man I wish they would have made a sequel.
Unbelievable to see a demo for a disc game, been awhile for one of those, Splatoon maybe? (Well Fatal Frame was free-to-start so that's close I suppose but I'm not even sure it came out on disc in the US.) Now can we get one for StarFox Zero so we can practice the "difficult to learn" controls before the game comes out? Still on the fence about that one. Well on the fence about renting it, we'd never buy an on rails shooter, not our type of game.
Is it bad I don't like games with over 20 hours of gameplay anymore? I don't have time to play games like that and find short 6-10 hour games more rewarding.
Chronicles of Teddy looks awesome but I don't know if I'll be able to play it because of how long it says it is.
Just the Pokken Tournament demo for me. Does anyone know the download size?
I'm very disappointed that NA didn't also get the Fire Emblem discounts. I would have picked up both GBA FE games if that had been the case.
@XCWarrior I think Miitomo is not on the list because it's not specifically an eShop download.
@Trinexx Pretty sure the sole reason of the FE discounts was because of the long wait for Fates.
Damn, was hoping for the Fire Emblem DLC discounts, as well.
The two weeks of SNES games on 3DS spoiled me. Now we are back to the eShop doldrums again.
@Hordak Still waiting on A Link to the Past and Super Metroid to be released in NA.
Fairly lackluster today, but a Pokken Tournament is kinda nice since I've been on the fence about it. Of course the big thing today is Miitomo, so it's understandable.
@Shirma_Akayaku What download code is it, I'll take it if it's a good game!
Can't wait to download Super Mario Sluggers! Loved the game and was hoping for a new one to come on Wii U, but didn't happen...any chance they'll be making one for 3DS???
Mario Super Sluggers! And with the MLB Opening Day this weekend, what perfect timing!
@JLPick It's just Flipnote Studio 3D.
Perhaps we in Europe could see Super Mario Sluggers get a release at last?
Come on NOE, we're move likely to buy a Wii Download if it was never released in the region before...
I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I'm a little bummed that Europe got Metroid: Other M and we got Mario Sluggers.
Miitomo for me
A surprising endorsement from @rjejr for Mario Super Sluggers means I'll be downloading that today as well.
Also, new Fire Emblem Fates DLC!!!
@rjejr
I was reading a NintendoEverything article about StarFox Zero (he got to play a recent build) and praised the new, modified control scheme. Said it was definitely geared toward "core gamers" rather than the noob. Meaning it's got some depth, but like Splatoon it can be mastered for serious control. I'm really glad they decided to make it more like older StarFox games. He said basically it plays just like the old ones, but on occasion (like in a corridor) he found himself naturally taking advantage of cockpit view to take on enemies. So my fears are put to rest.
this is all available tomorrow, or today?
I'm actually surprised that Nintendo didn't try to get some extra revenue this week with the new rewards program rolling out. This is yet another wasted opportunity by Nintendo. They could have had some good sales and then said, why not earn some new reward points....and I'm certain that people would have jumped on that.
@Tops
me too
Nothing for me, though I recommend people get The Legend of Dark Witch 2. It's the absolute best 3DS Game I played in 2015 and the saving grace of that year for me. The game is so much fun with the Mega Man-esque action.
@JaxonH "Said it was definitely geared toward "core gamers" rather than the noob."
Well, I guess my point could have been stated better - After all we've heard the past 2 years about the new control scheme it would be nice if Nintendo gave us a SFZ demo before the game released so we can try it out for ourselves.
@Lizuka "Bares noting you can get it for much cheaper from Amazon than you can on the eShop."
Sluggers on Amazon is usually $20 new, $10 used if you factor in shipping, neither of which are "much cheaper" than $20. And as much as I dislike digital and would rather have a disc, I'd rather pay more for a download over a USED disc. Though I suppose if somebody really needed to save the money they could get it cheaper used, but not new.
@Captain_Gonru "non-stop Zelda news soon"
You drop the "U" by accident or on purpose? I think I've accepted the fact that at this point it just HAS to be on both. Can't re-announce a Wii U game launching after NX but you can't announce Zelda U skipping Wii U either as we've been waiting 2 years for it. Even if NX is a handheld they need to port it, it's the only way to promote both game and hardware at once. And I think I'm getting FFXV Day 1, so I'll be ready for Zelda U under the tree as our last Wii U game. My kid will pick up Paper Mario day 1 which should be before that. (Don't know about NX, my kids will want it for Pikmin 4, but I think that's on them, I'm done after PS4.)
@Shirma_Akayaku I'll take it.
Hey Mario Sluggers... I actually kind of am interested in this. I never played it once. I'm just glad my wishlist is big enough to probably carry me for ages so I don't have to be disappointed like everyone else.
woohoo Super Mario Sluggers! time to go back to playing Baseball.
Pollen demo, and seeing as I bought map pack one, Fates DLC.
I will probably get the Kemco RPG. I like their retro inspired RPG's
Chronicles of Teddy looks awesome. So i`ll be picking up that for sure. Pokken Tournament Demo seems like a no brainer.
I'm surprised that Chronicles of Teddy hasn't garnered more interest. I'm hopeful for a solid review, and expect to get it unless it's suggested it's better avoided.
Well I got Hyrule Warriors Legends today, and I got the exclusive download WarioWare Touched on the 3DS today from My Nintendo...YEE!!!
I've been way behind with my Wii U purchases this year, mostly because Xenoblade X is just so massive. I haven't even gotten Twilight Princess yet (which is cool, I guess, because now I get to earn MyNintendo points).
That said, Chronicles of Teddy has to be a day one deal for me. It just looks so lovely.
chronicles of teddy right here sucka
MARIO SUPER SLUGGERS! gasp I loved that game when I was younger! If I didn't already have it, I'd definitely get it.
@Captain_Gonru But who needs Zelda UNX, we have Miitomo.
26 weeks from today FFXV (supposedly) releases. I think they got me hook, line and sinker. NX and Zelda news better be good to go against that, PS4k, PSVR and the usual holiday suspects.
Crap week!! Ugh! Terrible!! Teddy maybe....no vc games???
seriously thought lovely planet would never release on the U, still got that demo tho
@Captain_Gonru They'll never sell 10mil, but I will be buying 1. My GOTY or I'm done w/ Squenix and I'll have to start playing western RPG like Witcher and Fallout, which really aren't my thing, I like parties, not solo adventures, which is why I've never been all that big on either Link or Samus.
chronicles of teddy has turned out to be goty material in my book...however the sound keeps dropping in and out in this game. i tried to re download it in hopes of solving this issue but it didnt fix this, they better fix this because besides that this game is freaking AWESOME.
