Awesome! This is the first I've heard about this. I was hoping this and it's sequel would be released on VC. Hopefully they release the SNES version though.
Yeah, good platformers, but i too was always rubbed the wrong way by the rodent-mascot-platformers that followed in Sonic's wake. Think it was just a matter of it being such an imitated genre in the mid-90s (though, ironically i LOVE platformers in general), with Crash, Gex, and all the million other " 'Tude " mascots.
Crash and Gex's games were very good, though. Aero the Acrobat I remember as okay, but hardly spectacular.
I will grant you that the Crash PS1 games were great, but the series has since gone downhill. Gex irritated me with the constant yakking, though. Most Sonic wannabes were pretty poor, like Aero, and I am quite glad they generally don't produce these animal mascots with attitude these days.

What about Rayman #1? That should be pretty easy to port.
None of the platforms the first Rayman was released on are currently supported on VC. Rayman 2 is a possibility though since that was released on the N64. But Ubisoft have never released a single game on VC despite having always been big supporters of the Wii in general, so I don't know.
So true! Sunsofts other try, Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel was one of the worst... and also had the worst bug ever before the last bosses. Hope we´ll never get that abonimation!

Zero was a really lame character...the only thing cool is his name, which is that of another sidescrolling hero:
...sadly, the similarities end there, as one Zero is far superior and much more bad-arse than the other. Two guesses which one it is.

are there any differences between the SNES and Genesis versions?
One bonus stage used the SNES Mode 7 effects for a top-down view as Aero dives into a tank of water while flying through rings. The Genesis version of the stage was side-view. (the SNES stage was also outside, whereas the Genesis level was inside a circus tent. But that's getting into semantics.)
