Just wanted to see if anyone is still playing their Dreamcast systems. I've been having the urge to play mine. Had to order AV Cables online as I don't think I have those anymore because of an event that happened a few years back but at least it was affordable.
I'm also browsing around and finding games to pick up at some point (soon rather than later). I missed out on Skies of Arcadia, Jet Set Radio and Phantasy Star Online. I'm just a tad gutted that Arcadia is really expensive (saw it for $99 at least). Then there's MvC2 which is priced at $398 which is obviously way too much for a video game and one that I know I wouldn't be playing all that much (and that it's available on XBLA and PSN for $380 less).
The games I already have are:
Sonic Adventure Space Channel 5 Chu Chu Rocket Bomberman Online Pen Pen Triatholon (GREAT game, btw) Donal Duck: Goin' Quakers Buzz Lightyer of Star Command Blue Stinger Power Stone 2 Marvel vs Capcom Sega Smash Pack Volume 1
That's all I can remember as they're in storage but I'm sure those are the only ones I own.
I'm also looking into getting a blue controller which isn't pricey at all used unless I want to fork over $54 for an apparent NEW one.
Disappointing that this system did not last long... I never got to experience SegaNet...
SegaNet was a pain in the ass, but when it worked, it was beautiful playing Quake III Arena against others. I can't count the weeks I spent just whoring that game online.

No I sold my Dreamcast and GameCube to make room and some cash for the Wii. I should have kept the Dreamcast. But I do have Crazy Taxi on the PS2 which I do play on once in a while as that's a very enjoyable game.
I'm looking forward to the HD remake of Space Channel 5.2 coming soon.

And can you go a little faster?!
I never owned a Dreamcast and only knew one person that did and he only had two games Crazy Taxi and a wrestling game. I liked both games but I could never get used to the controller.

Yeah. The controller was just .... how do you say it, like a de-formed brick?

Have you ever considered buying games used?
That's the thing. Most of these games I'm looking at are indeed used.
I still play my Dreamcast occasionally. A few games are still online and the web browser still works, so you can download any add-on content you want. There are fansites that host all the downloadable content. ( You'll need either dialup or the expensive broadband adapter, though.)
Quake 3 still works online due to it being compatible with the PC version, but the DC-compatible servers aren't very active. I played online a few months ago but had no luck finding players.
If only Dreamcast lasted much longer than 2001. I know developers were making games through 2010, actually. Indie, of course. There's also that Water and Wind (something like that) game that came out in 2008 and it's one of the best games on Dreamcast. I got the Dreamcast when I was 7 or 8, so I didn't know anything about online connectivity nor the VMU-thing until after Dreamcast's "death" unfortunately.
Wicked disappointed...
But life goes on. Are the controls of Quake 3 good on Dreamcast? Heard it was one the best games on the platform- especially online.

You're not looking in the right places then. I can easily find Skies of Arcadia for under $50, and MvC2 for Under $30.

I never played Q3A with the controller, so I have no idea. I just played it using the Dreamcast keyboard and mouse. I knew a few people that were incredibly good at UT with a controller, but UT had a built in aim assist for controllers. I'm not sure about Quake; I spent most of my time with UT.
@SMW And you don't have to pay for SegaNet still? I remember there being like a $10 monthly fee for it and I'd be surprised if that was still up. The only online enabled game I have is Bomberman Online. I'm not sure ChuChu Rocket is online as well, but I think it is.

SegaNet was never required. SegaNet had some exclusive servers on certain games, but most games were completely playable with any broadband and certain dial-up providers. SegaNet was just an ISP provided by SEGA. I played online using Road Runner broadband.
As for what games are still online, there are just a couple. For dial-up, there is StarLancer, 4x4 Evo, and Maximum Pool. For either dial-up or broadband, theres Quake 3 and PSO. These games are online thanks to GameSpy and dedicated fans who host their own servers.
Ah. Sweet. I heard PSO is full of hackers and that certain private servers require some dedication (such as being an active member on their forums for 6 months) to play on their hacker-free server.
I had thought Seganet was like Xbox Live with a subscription- not an ISP. Good to know though.
The lens on mine's a bit screwed and can't be played for more than 20 mins or so without it losing the ability to read the discs. I know someone who's gone through 3 Dreamcasts each having the same problem...
Hey! Listen!
