Well, the Wii Virtual Console doesn't even have any Game Boy line games. There are only about 400 games available on the NA Wii Virtual Console. That's pretty good, no doubt, but only a small fraction of what the R5 can play.

No it...it will already be out by then. This isn't softeware emulation like the Virtual Console. It uses carts, and it doesn't have a slot for N64 games. Maybe they'd add it to a possible Retron 6, but I don't see them adding it to the 5.

A new interview with Hyperkin emerges. They're talking 100% compatibility with all games, and they're even going for total homebrew cart support as well. Gallizzi from Hyperkin also seems to be pretty confident that the controller shouldn't be an issue like with the previous Retron clones.

He also says that Hyperkin has a new project in the works, and whatever it is will let you play MS-DOS games, and perhaps Atari 2600, and Commodore 64 games. Personally, I'd love to see support for the Atari 8-Bit computer games as well if it's going to support C64 and DOS games. Colecovision (Or even the Intellivision) would be cool as well, but the controllers are obviously gonna pose a problem there.

Hey everyone there is a rumor that is Nintendo 64 games could be coming to the retron 5.

For all ye' N64 fans out there (Which I most certainly am not one of, sad to say), Gallizzi says you should look forward to what they have in store at E3. There will definitely not be any Retron 5 support for the system though, unless they end up releasing some sort of expansion for it.

According to Hyperkin's Twitter, no FDS or 32X support currently. (No SMB2 for you, not unless you have The Lost Levels that is...) Perhaps it can be added in a future update?

The Master System is still 100% a go though!

Only 4 days left until April, still no solid release date. Nobody quote me on this, but I'm starting to suspect that the release date is literally "April", as in retailers can ship them out as soon as April starts.

I tried the Retron 5 out this past weekend and is pretty good. The wireless controllers that come with it are amazingly light but they felt just a bit off and we're not the most comfortable things to hold. I recommend using the original controllers over them unless you just really need wireless. All the games ran really well and there didn't seem to be any sound or graphical issues at all but keep in mind I was at a convention so sounds was something I'm not 100% sure on as the building was loud.

The only question is, is what does the Retron 5 not do?

It doesn't play Turbografx/PC Engine/Supergrafx games. The second this or some other company makes a region free TG-16 with modern outputs, I'm all over it.

This does look cool, though. I've been tracking it for a while. And! Those pictures of FFTA and Y's Book I&II look great!

I was so hyped for this, but I can't find a place - one with a reasonably priced unit to preorder from. I'll probably have to wait a few months now.

I've joined a mailing list for stoneagegamer, so hopefully, I can pick one up eventually.

Re-post - Why we delayed the RetroN 5 after the pin malfunction.

Once the pin issue happened we had some time to look at the console deeply and we delayed the launch. Part of this delay was that we wanted to put things into the RetroN 5 but when we started it was far too expensive. As things progressed, we were able to add more features that we wanted. Game genie wasn't originally in the cards but we found a way to do it. Screenshots had a similar story. As we have had more time to work on it, the RetroN 5 has been getting better and better. I often hear people get really upset that it is not out yet but I just take it on the chin because I know when it comes out you guys will really like it. I am very proud of what we have been able to accomplish and there is no group of people that want to release the console more than we do. We want all of hard work to be shown for the world to see. However, we did not want the product to have glaring issues that we overlooked because we had to make a deadline. Castlevania 3 had sound problems we needed to fix that took forever. Mega Man 3-6 did not respond at all to our feature set. We have used tens of thousands of cartridges with beta testers all over the world in order to test every single game from every library. Yes..we did that. Every. Single. Game. It took a very long time. But we are close. I promise you it is not vaporware. I have played it for hours and seen what it can do. We did not want to release a product that needs a firmware update every 3 weeks like what people by now. So are we beyond our deadline? Yes. Are we late to launch? Yes. I agree delays suck. But this is the best product we have ever created. We just wanted to get everything right. It is my hope that being upfront with the community will assure your confidence.
