PSN friend requests are basically what everybody WISHES Nintendo would do; nice, simple, and pretty much STANDARD (like how the vast majority of websites or game systems you use have that kind of setup). Note this complaint is with Nintendo, not you, WaltzElf.
I am indeed still the TRUE king of PSN Levels on this thread. Only the two of us are level 13, and Slappy's only ahead of me in experience 'cause he has well over 100 more Trophies than I do (they're just lower value). Quantitatively, I have 74% of all the Trophies in all the games in which I've earned at least one Trophy combined.
Hey, how come you have trophies for Puzzle Quest? I downloaded that game off the PSN, and there's no trophies, as far as I can tell?
Hi PS3 gamers. Can you help me with a decision for me. Basically I'm sick of waiting for GT5 (one of my most anticipated games since I picked up my PS3) and have decided to buy a racing game which is actually on the market. Two things, it has to be more of a sim than arcade style, and it has to have trophies. I've pretty much narrowed it down to Need for Speed Shift and Colin Mcrae Dirt 2. Both games are still quite pricy so I don't want to pick the wrong one. Which should I get?

Need for speed shift is great but it does have its problems, there aren't a huge number of cars and the super cars are quite disappointing in their handling, perhaps they are too realistic but i just cant get to grips with them. other than that it is very strong, the tracks are good, the incar view very realistic and the star collection and driver leveling will keep you at it developing your style.

I've read in places that it's really easy to go the wrong way and totally mess up your race cos it's open world. That doesn't really appeal to me that much as I have GTA4 race to do that with. Or am I wrong? Cos the price really appeals to me.

the online is pretty decent too.
Hey man, thanks for the info. This is an awesome thread!
I guess nobody has played Darksiders then and i'll just have to take a chanse with it.

@Firkraag.... I havent played Darksiders but at some point down the road I do plan on it. New Zelda inspired game with a lot of action and mature gamestyle sounds like a lot of fun to me. Ive just read that it kinda starts off slow and then takes off.
@WaltzElf.... one thing you will notice about the PS3 is all it takes is a few button taps to the right to your friends list when you turn on your PS3 you will see exactly who is on and what they are playing, if you click on them you can compare their trophies to your own, and if you have the same game, just pop it in and go to multiplayer and send them a quick invite and you will be playing with them in no time. A few of us here pop in and out of eachothers matches in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 all the time without ever sending an invite as if the game incorparates multiple gamers and a spot is open you can just jump right into the game. Ill send you an invite here in a few, and welcome to PS3 life my friend.
@Bouncy.... I really (slapping myself for this REALLY HARD for typing it) wouldnt recommend Burnout if your looking for sim style gameplay. Burnout is all out action, but does in fact control quite nice, but its over the top acrade action. Shift is incredible, and Im still waiting on my Dad to cough up his copy so I can finally start playing it more, and on my account for trophies. He is a sim racer lover and craving GT5 too and he Loves Shift. GRID is great and cheap too, but no trophies. Dirt 2 is suppose to be a blast a well, and Ferrari Challenge is really fun and plays a lot like GT but after about 20+ hours I got really bored and had to quit. I think I only got like 30% of the trophies.
@Stuffy.... you rule, hands down I just had to stop on some of the games, Wanted I couldnt stomach 3 full more playthus as my gamesave glitched and I would have to start all over, and I am looking right at the Platinum on Uncharted, Uncharted 2 (1 more playthru), Shaun White Im soo close but have to boost a trophy because of lack of people online, Tomb Raider Underworld is a maybe for finding all the 179 treasures and hoping it doesnt glitch like many peoples have, Dead Space is 1.5 more playthrus, Ratchet and Clank a Crack in Time is definately getting the Platty but havent started. So many others Im not trying at all, Bioshock 2, SF4, GT4, Demon Souls, etc. Oh Ninja Gaiden 2 def isnt either. I like to many difficult games lol.

@Firkraag: I have it. I like it a lot. Zelda/GoW mixed together. I haven't beaten it, but I've made it to right past the 2nd or 3rd boss and I enjoy it.

Thanks man I'm loving the PS3. Star Ocean is giving me the same fuzzy feeling Star Ocean 3 did on the PS2.
@Waltz - don't own it, but it was actually a lot of fun. Decent FPS--just short and low res...probably crazy-cheap today though. and something to keep in mind--consider the Triangle button the right-click, so-to-speak. Almost any time I've been confused as to what to do, triangle-ing tends to bring up options and solve said problem. I feel it's the best-structured console OS I've ever used.
and @ firk - I haven't played it personally, but a bud whose gaming tastes I trust has had a phenomenal time with it. It's gotten one overwhelmingly positive personal review, so if that pushes you over the edge to get it (and you summarily enjoy it), you're welcome. And if you hate it.....uh.... /runsawai
Seriously though, the review was very positive.

Dont have The Darkness, I played the demo and it was alright, its actually one of the lower rated games on the PS3 so I never picked it up, I got a friend that loved it though lol. Ive picked up Star Ocean so many times on PSP and have yet to actually buy it. Ive heard so many good things about it, just never bought it as its hard to find time to put into a RPG lately.

Whoo, got a copy of Date's Inferno. I know it's only getting middling reviews, but it's definately my kinda game. Can't wait to load it up when I get home tonight.
Thanks, I'm picking it up right after I finish Valkyria Chronicles and Arkham Asylum then.

Can't wait! The PSOne had an epic lineup of RPG's and this is one of the best ones.
The Kings Field games are on the Japanese PSN for download - all three are utterly brilliant. I'm so lucky my partner is Japanese and has a Japanese credit card.

She translates games for you too? If not, this should still come as a pleasant surprise. Paying for the same game twice though sucks..

I know enough Japanese I can translate for myself.

Figured as much, you have a solid list of PS1 titles to play then. The US/EU store pales in comparison :/
