Mass Effect 2 and 3 were the ones I heard were awesome, but I'm not gonna risk it after my experience with the first game. I have Mass Effect 1 on Xbox 360(bought it before the sequels came out), and that s*** was so boring, that I gave up on the whole series.

I was trying to avoid this thread like the plague, but...

Last I checked, you don't like RPGs, right? Well, the series stopped being RPGs after the first game. Now they're 3rd Person shooters with RPG elements, and pretty good ones, too. The story is also more action packed and has more interesting things going on. I know the first game sucked. It was an RPG with too much boring, surperfluous text that only Bioware could somehow get away with, and the gameplay was too RPG to be a good shooter, yet too shooter to be a good RPG. It's just a mess, and I'm glad I decided to skip it to move on to the second game. The second game has more interesting things to say, and it's easier to simply skip the superfluous stuff while still knowing what's going on, and, again, the combat is awesome.

Pretty sure there's demoes out there if you still need convincing on the combat part. And no offense, but you seem to forget that series are meant to improve. Most games don't get it right the first time, and the few that do, usually have sequels that are worse. It's always good to at least look into a sequel, since you never know when they might have gotten things right this time.

Ya, I've been thinking about just skipping the first title. Maybe if the Trilogy or the other titles come out by themselves for Wii U, I'll give it another go, but I don't plan on buying anymore games for my PS3.

EDIT: Oh ya, I'm trying to buy only digital at this point, so ME3 on Wii U doesn't count. The DLC isn't even there...

It's more like a four-pack actually.

I wouldn't associate EA with Mass Effect. Yes, they published later on, and I'm sure influenced the multiplayer aspect of 3, but most of the praise/blame falls on Bioware. They were the overall decision makers.

As for the series itself, the combat improvements from 1 to 2 is night and day, and for the better.

Teh udraw gamecrap was a piece of $%@&! It broke aftre day 1 and didnt wokr at al wen it wasnt broke! (Now to gather an army of people doing this and ruin what's left of THQ!)

Also Scar, the first Mass Effect game wasn't made by EA, so judging EA on ME1 is invalid.

The first one is the best game in the series man. Just saying the whole series is still pretty good as a whole.

Mass Effect is awesome. It'll make a grown man cry at points. The conclusion was lamesauce, but the new ending picked it up ok.

The first Mass Effect was awesome, and one of my favorites. I was too disillusioned by the second game to ever bother playing the third. Talk about a series that went downhill fast!

All I wanted Mass Effect 2 to do was to fix the combat to make the actual gunplay more shooterish and to do something about those levels where you drive around barren planets and moons. What I didn't want was for them to turn the entire game into a third person shooter and to replace the boring planet searching sections with an infinitely more boring planet scanning function.

Well, people complained about the Mako, and instead of improving it, Bioware just trashed it.

So does this mean no more EA games on Wii U?

From and EA investor call: "EA continued by saying that they’ve managed to ‘eliminate expenses’ on next gen R&D by ignoring platforms they don’t think have a long-term potential (Frostbite 3 doesn’t support Wii U), meaning that R&D costs have remained flat for the first time in a console transition. Frank Gibeau said that they expect to make more next gen titles than they did current gen."

Hammerhead from the ME2 overlord DLC was pretty cool.

going to replay the series probably today. Going to play a NG+ with my fem shep from one and go through the series.

Wish they would spin off the ME3 mulitplayer into a separate free to play game.
