Why would you want to watch your iPad movies on the hotel screen? The third generation iPad screen looks better than any TV I've come across - especially in hotel rooms.

Because it would be kind of strange for a family of four to be crowded around an iPad? You're user requirements are clearly nothing like mine and everything you describe as working for you is the exact opposite for me. HDMI and expandable memory are requirements for me.

Ipad has a dislay thats 2048 X 1536. You gwt much more pixels on screen than you do an HD TV. But it really doesnt matter if you like to view things on a wider screen.

The Ipad's resolution is in a league of it's own.

Put me on the pro-Ipad side of this discussion.

And I'm not talking about your bias towards a product. I'm referring bias towards a company.

The moment someone comes out with a product that appeals to me more than Apple laptops/ iPads etc is the moment I'll buy that instead. I don't play the silly fanboy games. I simply buy into whatever works for me best.

Right now, yes, it's Apple. Many of the reasons it does work for me best is because it's the world's biggest company (fact, not opinion).

I'm not disputing Apple being a big company, I know that. I have yet to see one criticism from you in regards to what Apple does. All I hear is Apple is great, Apple is this, and Apple is that. They are far from being the best (like a majority of companies, even Nintendo).

At the end of the day, people have preferences. Apple products works for some. And Microsoft's works for others. There's no such thing as "best of the best" because that's subjective. For example: I like Android mostly because of it's integration of my Google services.

And you can't say you're not into fanboy games when you play that card all the time, especially when you're hunting Nintendo fans down

But I digress. I know this will appeal to some of my relatives and my brother. And frankly, they just don't care if iOS (iPad/iPhone) has all these apps. It all comes down to preferences. Which applies to almost everything in life.

Yes, retina is pretty spectacular. Further to your point in response to Waveboy, it's also worth noting there is no motion blur whatsoever when watching a movie on an iPad.

It's interesting that people criticise products without properly using them. I'm sure if I said a Mega Man game sucked without playing it first I'd be in big trouble.

Given that I reserve most of my criticism of companies for their business practices, it's a little difficult to direct much Apple. It's got every single thing right in the past 8 or so years - that's why it's gone from the verge of bankruptcy to becoming the most valuable company in the world.

Apple's product vision also makes it difficult to direct criticism to its releases. Yes the iPad is more limited than some of the rivals out there, but that's the whole point, and that's actually why the things are more popular than the rivals.

Should Apple screw up somewhere down the line I'll be writing about how it screwed up. I don't get emotionally attached to companies, and I'm not a fan of Apple. They're simply the best business out there right now.

Yeah absolutely, couldn't agree more. My point of contention is more to do when people criticise iProducts for completely arbitrary reasons, and usually reasons that are completely uninformed - usually because the person doing the criticising hasn't even used one for more than five minutes in a store.

tl;dr if you're going to criticise something, make sure you're actually right first.

True story - elsewhere (n4g) I've been told I'm a Nintendo fanboy. Here apparently I'm an Apple fanboy. I used to be a Sony fanboy here a year or so ago.

I really don't have an allegiance to anyone. I like good products and good games, and I really don't care where they come from.

Kind of related but microsoft released the Smartglass SDK to developers.

http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/21/microsoft-releases-smartgl...

All in All microsoft had a great week and is getting alot of buzz. Between this and E3 there seems to be less segregation pf the microsoft dovisons and they seem to be working in tandam.

Still going to tell my mom to get an ipad/iphone combo (wish there was a 7 inch ipad) but im grabbing the surface pro and Next gen nokia phone to go with my 360.

Criticizing something is commonly opinion based. It's not a matter of always being right.

I have an old laptop. It's an inspiron 1525 from Dell. Do you think this would be able to replace this? My computer's a pretty poor computer, and I love the metro design on my Windows Phone 7. Would this tablet be able to work like a laptop, and is it as powerful or more powerful than my computer?

Can anybody answer this question? I'd really like to know. Here's a link to a wiki page on it if it helps: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dell_Inspiron_1525
One more question: Could it run modern computer games, such as Sonic Generations on steam?

Good debaters argue on facts, not opinions.

My point still stands.

Facts are right. Opinions are not necessarily right. See the difference?
