Too true! This is when I apply the smile and nod routine. But I assume she applies the same technique when I complain about work.

What's funny is that we turn that right back around at men every day.

We turn that turn-around right back around at women everyday. And it's even more funny.

and when we turn that back around on men, it becomes a never-ending cycle of all of us laughing up our sleeves at one another. ain't life grand? :3

That said, sometimes it's just more kind to smile and nod. Being right all the time is a very lonely pedestal to stand on within a relationship, and it tends to start more fights than it ends, even if you really are right.

This is true, but I think, in general, women have more of a need to think they are right. And they certainly have less of a need to make sense while trying to show they are right.

it's not that we don't make sense, it's that you aren't listening and you only get half of what we're trying to say. it's not our fault your brains are turned off. also, if you don't think dudes have more of a need to be right about things, try being a woman talking to a man about building things, barbecuing, or playing video games. it's funny to set them off and watch 'em talk themselves blue in the face trying to persuade you of something you already knew and/or didn't give a rat's behind about anyway, but apparently it's deadly important (but not really, lol). :3

Lol maybe this is why I haven't been able to maintain a relationship. I don't do the yes dear thing very well and can't stand arguing back and forth as it tends to get nowhere. lol anytime I flat out say "I am done arguing" and tune out I usually get a slap in the face in my past relationships.

I just think that when a man is trying to prove he is right on something, he does so within the rules of logic.

A woman, trying to prove she is right, will do so at all costs, and wont let little things like logic or reason get in the way.

@Vay: violence is never okay, especially if you're the one trying to end the argument by not talking about it anymore. kick those girls to the curb :/

@Trin: Males? Logical? Please, all anyone needs to do to disprove that assumption is check out any set of gaming forums, even this one. Male and female alike, we are all capable of using both logical and illogical reasoning in an attempt to win an argument. :3

Well to be fair TBD it's not like I was understanding and said "look honey we are getting nowhere with this argument and I think we best just leave it as it is." Lol it was more like "I'm done!" and then watch TV and tune out or if I'm really pissed, just go somewhere else. So I can understand the frustration because at that point it's kind of telling them I am not going to listen to you anymore. Lol and it wasn't like a hard slap either.

Lol I've seen guys go at all costs too. Like when the name calling comes out after a long argument. After a while both people know how to push each others buttons and I think that is really when it becomes childish.

My problem has always been I attract women I am not interested in. These women include older women ( I do not mean 2 or 3 years, I am talking like 10 - 20 years ), single mothers and women with too many issues.

I have only had one g/f that disliked the fact I play video games. To be honest when I am in relationship, I just play them while they are at work or at a friends or their mothers house or something along them lines.

Gaming as a "lifestyle" is a pretty sad lifestyle. It should be a hobby, not a crutch.

On the other hand, some women are extra needy or high maintenance. You can expect to catch flak about gaming from them even if you do set reasonable gaming time boundaries.

My GF likes games, and she knows i do too.. She is a big Mario fan, I like Mario games too and Tetris lie she does, but of course i also like more "hardcore" games that she doesn't, because she isn't good at them, but she likes to just watch too, and i know that real life > games. So we do go out places and the such.

Then she's the one with the problem. That sounds horrible. lol

"Yes honey I'm gonna knit a sweater, why don't you sit right there and watch me"

Yeah maybe next time...

@AlexSays: for real, lol. that sounds about as much fun for him as it would be for her to watch him play a video game. at the very least she could do her beading/crocheting while he was playing a game, what harm would that have done? :3

Ah, crocheting... so many relationships ruined.

When will the madness end? Can't we just all get along, and put aside our crocheting differences? Can't love rise up above crocheting and show us what's really important?

What is crocheting anyway?

EDIT - I've said crocheting too much, and now it's weird. Crocheting, crocheting, crocheting. Is it weird for you? It sure is for me.

EDIT - Crocheting.

Good work on this one, guys.

Exactly. Well said that man.

Peeps, why do you all still live in 1994? Did none of you notice the Sony Playstation? Adults game now. It's not just sweaty, geeky males. It's a family experience. Even girls, yes even girls game. My Dad is 61, he plays games most days.

On these forums, you could be forgiven for not realising this is the case.

I suggest you all step into the time machine, turn the dial from 1994 to 2010, and snap out of it!

That is all.

And yet, for ALL THAT PROGRESS, women still split with men, citing video games as the problem. Or did you not read the first story?

Thank you! That's my point. I don't own any video game related clothes, but all my friends know I play video games. How you can keep your hobby a "secret" (or why) for 1 1/2 years is truly beyond me. It's part of who you are, and it's not like it's something to be embarassed about...

Well, when we were not dating, my video games stayed at home (or I took my DSi to work, where my princess doesn't visit). I don't wear gaming clothes out because I try to stay fashionable in the sense of Diesel, and I never felt the need to tell her because a personal hobby is just that, a personal hobby and I never felt the need to broadcast it.

So yes, it never came up.

Aha, but citing excessive or anti-social video gaming, or just video gaming?

Any activity that draws you away from your significant other is, by default, antisocial from the perspective of the relationship.

Not that it's important to be social 100% of the time, but aside from those couples where both are interested in video games (and thus wouldn't be in the 20% statistic quoted in the article), being dropped over video games is, by default, being dropped for being anti social

(that said, it is entirely possible that the girl has an unbalanced idea of how much social time is needed)
