@AlexSays Those horns are originally Latin American tradition, they're called cornettas and they have been used in Brazil, and other South/Central American countries for as long as I remember whereas 'vuvuzelas' appeared in Africa mid 90's. In Brazil, the fans use cornettas in moderation along with other instruments to cheer on the teams. I think that in Africa they are using this instrument in excess to the point that it's affecting some (maybe not all) of the players. Also, I don't think that taking the horns away from fans would take the fire from the crowds and make it less exciting. I have been to countless soccer games and there has been LOTS of fire and excitement without excessive use of deafening (+/- 120db) horns. Cornettas/vuvuzelas don't make fans, passion for football does.
BTW Congrats to Germany for the first ass-whoopin in the World Cup. Feel bad for Australia though.
@AlexSays Ok, I see. Did you know there is actually a committee formed to outright ban those things? Lol, it's not going to happen. It's rare, but I have seen people who blow those horns for the full 90 minutes, excluding half time and the time they use to take their next breath obviously. And I've seen one person faint from it... horns + alcohol = bad idea.
If my kids ever ask me to describe the World Cup 2010, I'll just say "People blowing horns."
Quote of the month right there.
How many teams progress from the 8 rounds?
QUEEN OF SASS
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!

LOL! What a nice header by Poulsen with a ricochet off of Agger... to bad it was a goal against his own team! Oh man, there have been a couple nice mess ups this World Cup so far.
