Topic: Charging the Pad.

I almost forgot to ask, because I don't see anyone talking about it. Can you still play with the pad while its charging? The battery life's length is kinda low. >.>
I kept hearing that the charger is a stand and not a cord...

No reason why not, just plug the charging cable into the top of the GamePad instead of into the back of the charging cradle, and play away!

If it has the charching port-thing like the 3DS, then I guess you can.

You plug the charger into the stand. The stand is a piece of plastic. I'm guessing you haven't watched Iwata's unboxing.

Both the Deluxe and Basic come with a "Wii U GamePad AC adapter". I'm guessing the adapter plugs into the cradle (which comes with the Deluxe) but can be unplugged from the cradle to charge the GamePad directly.

I think the question here was if you can connect the charger directly to the game pad.

And considering the not-deluxe bundle doesn't come with the cradle, then I guess it can be done.

Yes, i did read that you can charge the controller while playing. Where I read this, I don't recall (I believe it was in an article on Nintendo Life at some point but I get be wrong), so I can't source this, but I am so certain I would bet money on it.

The interesting thing about the charging of the Wii U stuffs is that they give you a separate power brick for the Gamepad charger. I would have thought they'd just use one of the USB ports. So that's pretty cool, I guess they don't nessisarily want us to charge the GamePad next to the TV... which is nice.

Hey, unboxings are cool especially unboxings of shiny new things. Some people like to get an idea of what's in the box and what the feel of the various parts are before they go out and buy them. If I'm going to spend $150AU on a computer case for example I want to know how durable the panels are, what accessories it comes with and so on before I fork out the money.

Some things can't be explained in text and photos and sometimes don't really need a full review. Wii U maybe not so much but for things like this, if you're interested in getting something along those lines, is pretty useful. Wouldn't have been clear how the HDDs and PSU were supposed to be installed through the pics on their website even though that's probably the main thing you'd want to know about if you were getting one.
