Sheesh, saving up for a 3DS (er, 2...since i promised my sister one, lol) is hard. Anyways, because of this holiday sale going on in Steam/Impulse...I've been starting to look into a couple of games. I'm thinking of buying both, but...not sure yet...figured I'll ask around here. Both series I haven't touched in a long time since the first games. And for some odd reason, I feel like building stuff only to destroy it later on. xD (yes, in the original games I've summoned monsters/tornadoes to destroy cities, as well as killing my own Sims. ) I do actually play the games though, so lemme know what's new in these games.

Crud...already bought SC4 and now hearing about some issues with newer computers...hope it works fine on my computer. Don't know why it wouldn't work well on computers like these though.

Never played SC, but I'm addicted to The Sims (3 now). It's not for everyone, though, but if it counts for anything; my friend's gamer bf had never cared about The Sims before but loved 3 for some reason. But if you've tried it out before and liked it, I guess you've got nothing to worry about.
SimCity 4 is considered the best SimCity game in recent years. The best thing about it is how you can develop screenwide 'districts' to a greater metropolis, and not have to worry about pollution from industries affecting your residential areas. If you like city builders, it's the definitive choice.
However, stay well away from Cities XL or it's sequel. They have an awful reputation.
Moving on to The Sims 3 (a game I also own), the feature enabling you to travel about your town at will justifies the asking price alone. Along with it, you get plenty of miniquests (so to speak), like collecting insects or fishing - which are often tied to careers (although you can opt to work from home by writing novels or selling paintings or even gigging at the stadium), and much more freedom to do what you want.
Unfortunately, EA are ones to release plenty of expansion packs when it comes to The Sims, and the vanila edition of The Sims is lacking in many of the features that made The Sims 2 brilliant. Namely, universities and home businesses.
I really enjoy my time playing either games, although The Sims can get a bit boring if you restrict yourself to a single character (and too overwhelming - for me at least, if you try taking on multiple housemates.)
The last time I played SimCity 4 was on my computer that ran Windows XP. I am not sure but I have heard of problems with SimCity 4 with Vista and Windows 7.
As for the Sims the last one I played was the original Sims. I just couldnt keep up with all the expansions they released it seemed like that they released one every month. I never played Sims 2 but I am kinda curious of Sims 3. The only problem I have is that they get old real fast for me, so for me its a question if I want to spend that much money on something that I will get bored of really fast.

Not sure if it was a patch, or if its from me putting in this code in SimCity's launch options on Steam, bu it works now...problem is, I've been messing with Sims 3 a lot more. xD Seems like my Sim becomes miserable too much though, lol
