i am interested in everything about gaming, but i am currently quite disappointed by the site i usually visit to inform myself (ign, 4players).

can you guys recommend some good sites and tell me why you like them?

Isn't this akin to walking into a Ford dealership and asking where you could buy a Jeep?
Other than NL, I just notice when stuff pushes to my Google Newsfeed.

I'm not surprised you're disappointed with IGN, I never been keen on that site.

Tbh if you're after just news and reviews then most sites are offering very similar things, they all sooner or later drop the same news or review the same games. The only other major ones would be list sites posting endless rubbish top ten this or that lists.

You could try Unseen 64 if you want something different. They focus on unreleased and cancelled games.

@6ch6ris6 gamesradar +, they send you emails around every 2 days about gaming news.

I usually visit gamefaqs for games information.
I check the games release from playasia because sometimes there are some surprising pre orders over there.

@HobbitGamer nintendolife is fine for news about nintendo but nothing else. and tbh this site was way better a few years ago. it kinda blew up and got bigger and worse IMO, but the community here is surprisingly friendly for the most part which is why im still visiting this site once in a while.

I pretty much just rely on Nintendo Life and Gematsu for basic news, then a handful of youtubers for commentary and reviews.

I usually visit gamefaqs if I want to recreate the experience of Xbox Live circa 2013

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

I use this site for most of my Nintendo news and rely on my news feed at random for about everything else. I still use IGN on occasion, but I'm seriously considering dropping that one entirely.

The community here was smaller and generally more sane as a whole until the Nintendo Switch released. While I welcome a lot of the good news and that Nintendo is more relevant to the mainstream again vs. in the Wii U era, with more traffic comes more viewpoints and, thus, polarization. The forums for the most part here are still fine, but there's a reason why I post less in article comment sections and avoid commenting on some subjects entirely. Heaven forbid if I have a differing opinion on something. šŸ™„

I welcome constructive discussions and have no problem expressing my views with someone who may not share some of my same ideals, but the internet isn't an easy place to have a lot of these conversations. Some people don't seem to realize that there's more to a person than what they may feel on a particular subject.

@Tyranexx the trolls usually are too lazy to scroll down enough to see the forums. I 100% agree with you, most of the people here value opinions and are respectful of each other. I wouldnā€™t have come here if Miiverse hadnā€™t ended but this is the closest place to miiverse I could find.šŸ˜‚šŸ˜

I used to visit Kotaku every now and again as there would be the rare genuinely decent article that caught my eye, but that hasn't happened in recent memory. A lot of the pieces there either don't interest me or try to make something out of nothing.

@Blooper987 I do believe most of the trolls do miss the forums! XD Too much effort to get to I guess. The occasional one sneaks in, but they're usually dealt with before too long.

I never really got into Miiverse, though it was fun to read through some of the topics for a game when I had a spare moment. I mostly used it on the consoles and didn't bother with the web version.

Tim Rogers was the reason I visited Kotaku, but he left early this year.

I miss Tim... And Kirk... And Maddy... And Jason... And Heather... And Gita... And just about every other principled and/or idiosyncratic writer who left Kotaku over its idiot ownership and the Deadspin debacle. I feel like itā€™s starting to come back to itself recently, after a very shaky period, but Iā€™m not sure Kotaku will ever again be what it was.

I like quirky, offbeat features more than ā€œOMG the next Halo looks awesomeā€ reports. Gaming news when itā€™s indistinguishable from games marketing isnā€™t that interesting to me.
