@JenFhurr to visit someone you have to have them in your friend list. Go to the train station and talk to porter (the monkey) and select visit a faraway town. You also have to make sure the other person is on. And they're gates are open. I suggest you either put up a status on the friend thingy and ask if anyone's gates are open. Same on Nintendo life. If you visit me I'd be happy to explain everything to you.
