Q: What do you like about your Switch?
A: Simply a fantastic gaming platform which you can take anywhere. It's hard to know where to start. It has fantastic nintendo games and far more 3rd party support than Nintendo have had in a long time. It's great for solo play but also couch co-op. The hybrid nature of it makes it a great party console and taking it wherever you want doesn't get old. I honestly think it's the best console on the market right now (I have over 30 consoles so think I can say this with some experience).

Q: What do you dislike?
A: As much as I love it there are some clear flaws. The joy-con sticks do seem to live on borrowed time - two of mine I've had from the start are fine but on my other pair I've had to change both sticks on them (it's actually easy and cheap to do yourself but still annoying). Also the online service is really lacking and I think most would agree with that.

Q: Did you ever regret buying one?
A: Not even slightly

Q: Is it difficult to hold for someone with relatively small hands?
A: Can't honestly answer this but I'd say no. I have big hands and think if they were smaller it would actually make it a touch more comfortable.

Q: How often do you use it?
A: Almost every day. Sometimes briefly (30mins or so) and sometimes for hours (I've gone too far this way and played over 5 hours in day before!).

Q: Do you think it will be obsolete in the next 1-2 years?
A: No chance. It's in its prime now and still has a tonne of games to come out for it - some which have been announced and many we can guess at which haven't. At the very least I'd give it till 2023.

Also, can you watch YouTube on a Switch without jailbreak? Yep!

What do you like about your Switch? - Nintendo games, and some cool third-party games available.
What do you dislike? - Lack of: Internet Browser, Themes, Folders, Activity Log, Virtual Console, a proper online infrastructure.
Did you ever regret buying one? - No way.
Is it difficult to hold for someone with relatively small hands? - My hands aren't small, but I wouldn't think so.
How often do you use it? - On average? 1-2 times a week. There have been times where I have played it just about every day in a week, and times where I went over a month without playing.
Do you think it will be obsolete in the next 1-2 years? - Not at all. Even if a successor somehow already comes out in 2022, there's still a lot of life left in the Switch. A lot of 1st and 3rd party titles will still come to the Switch until at least 2023 at looks like. These aren't Wii U days where the console was dying before its successor even released.

Switch appeals to just about every type of Nintendo player. Even with your experience of the Wii and DS, there's still plenty to love on Switch. The high price in Australia sucks. If you lived in America, I would say get the Switch ASAP. If you want to spend the money on the Switch, you probably won't regret it. On the other hand, they'll likely be a permanent price drop internationally in 2021-2022.

I say 3 years going and if you still asking the question then one shouldn't be playing on any Consoles. This sounds more aking to ClickBaiting rather then having substance to it.

Keep driving on...that isn't going to happen if they release a new version then it will be the 299.99 or if it has more GPU/CPU power then be something like 399.99. So how one comes to such Koolaid thoughts is beyond any logical thinking.

Get one if you like games. Don’t get one if you don’t like games.

Agreed after 3+years one is still asking is akin to Trolling or ClickBait. There's more then enough online reviews going on one can find the information to make their decision. If asking from Switch owners experiences that is different.

What do you like about your Switch?
-Handheld mode. I'm mostly a PC gamer but got a little tired of sitting at a desk. Kicking back in bed is enjoyable. Never dock my Switch, but having that ability is nice. Also the games.
What do you dislike?
-You need a charge in the battery to operate it. I was disappointed the first time my battery ran out and plugged it in. Would have been nice if you could play it plugged in without the worry of having a charged battery. Also means the console won't last forever.
Did you ever regret buying one?
-Not at all.
Is it difficult to hold for someone with relatively small hands?
-I have small hands and had no issue. On Amazon you can buy a controller style case for about $10 which makes it feel much nicer.
How often do you use it?
-Depends on my mood for gaming. I'm usually a PC gamer but for the past month I've ONLY played on my Switch.
Do you think it will be obsolete in the next 1-2 years?
-IMO consoles only become obsolete when they stop working. I still play on my 2DSxl.

If you do get one, he aware of the quality. Generally, the quality is good, but some switches have issues. Nintendo's quality seems to have taken a drop with the Switch. But the Switch is a fantastic console and I would advise getting one.

Destiny, justice and retribrution will be mine.

Vanner

Hi everyone, Thank you for all your replies, it seems most people are very pleased with the Switch overall. I have decided that I will be buying one.

My concern now is that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will not support cloud save (maybe in the future?). I had naively thought that games saved to the cartridge as they did with the DS, or to the SD for digital games, but it seems this isn't the case.

I know the likelihood of needing a backup is low, but I am still hesitant to spend time on games which do not have cloud support. Of course Nintendo are the only ones to know for sure, but do you think there may be a method to back up 'all' games reliably in the not too distant future?

@Vanner
Nintendo has confirmed they will reconsider about saving data transfer in alternative way.
Keep stay tune on Nintendo.
They might reveal something to address that issue.

This is what would classify as NintenDoomed talking points. Those Switches with issues some of which are suspect user abused as other don't have the same experiences so you have to ask what where they doing with the Switches? So unless they can document and verify independently that is more or less hearsay on their Switches. I seen some picture clearly showing dropped Switches not a heat or hardware defect. As to the Drift that is both hardware and user caused.

Not just fantastic but close to Revolutionary gaming on the go and Docking in one system. No other system has even done this or combined the two. Just look at Dell/Alienware own Patent Infringement console they called it innovation but sorry to say Dell you came late there nothing innovative but copying and saying you did something another has done already. It's a PC gaming hardware but they failed to give credit were it's Deserved Nintendo Switch but guess they knew but thought they could pass it off as their innovation even when directly copying the Switch hardware and Design. That to me isn't innovation but a ripoff to save your own butts from your failing business model.

@Vanner good to hear but first thing after getting it.
1. Get a Temper Glass HD and cover it. You will be more happier for your investment.
2. Get a 200gb or 400gb microSD as they are cheap enough to not invest in smaller storage
3. Make sure the MicroSD is a Sandisk or reputable name knockoff exists
example a 1tb for 60$$ is a fake that card is still in the 200$$ range or more depending on supply.
4. Get something like a Hori24 cart holder even if you don't use all it for my experience now with 16 of them works they do take some muscle work to take them out but if you want secure carts this is one of them.
5. Anything else hardware or extra Joy-con or Pro controller that is based on the games and your preferences. But at least get one Pro Controller works when docked better griping

If you at least do this steps this will insure your investment pays you back.

What do you like about your Switch?
The portability aspect is one of the greatest selling points for me. I find myself often hanging out with my girlfriend on the couch while she is watching her dumb tv shows and I'm gaming on the Switch. No fighting over the remote and no need for her or me to go to another room. That way we can still enjoy each others company.

What do you dislike?
I wouldn't mind a bit more power as in, better cpu, gpu and so on. Also, a better battery life would be welcome.

Did you ever regret buying one?
No, not at all. Regret not getting one on release

Is it difficult to hold for someone with relatively small hands?
On of the first things I bought were larger Joycons. I have pretty big hands and I find that the Joycons are a bit too small. I bought this one: https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Machina-Ergonomic-Cont...
Love these controllers and never play without them. Only downside is, that there's no rumble.
If you have small hands, you shouldn't experience any problems with the Joycons.

How often do you use it?
I play my Switch every day. Literally, every day. It's so easy to pick up and get a game going.

Do you think it will be obsolete in the next 1-2 years?
No unless there's going to be a Switch 2.

The portability aspect. I haven't sat down on my couch to play a game in years now. Haven't had the time. Switch is the only way I can play games now a day.

What do you dislike?

I have a launch model, for me the Im not a fan of the battery life. The new ones are apparently much better in this regard.

Did you ever regret buying one?

No

Hi everyone, I got my Animal Crossing Switch today (the last one!) and have put a glass screen protector on. How do I know when it is fully charged and ready to use? (It's in the dock now and the tv is showing removing the console from the dock). Thanks in advance.

Vanner

WoomyNNYes

@Vanner In both TV & handheld mode, the upper right of the screen shows a charge bar with charge percentage 1% - 100%. While it's in the dock there isn't anything to indicate if it's done charging or not. So, turn on the TV or pull it out of the dock and turn it on.
