Topic: Physical Copies’ Save Data Between Switches

My parents are divorced and I split time between households 50/50. This year for Christmas my dad purchased a switch for the household. However, I’m not allowed to take it to my mom’s house bc it’s a family switch and my step siblings still play on it when I’m not there. I was thinking of buying one of my own that I can easily bring either between households or just leave at my mom’s to avoid damage during transport. But I’m concerned that if I buy a new switch any data on games that I’ve played won’t move over bc I don’t know if the game saves save to the switch instead of the chips. Is there any way I can play the same game I’ve been playing at my dad’s (physical copy) with all my save data on a new switch(w/o transferring switch data completely)?

@Otis24 games are saved to your console, not cartridges(game cards). I was going to say more, but what i typed on my phone here was lost because my logged in session ended before i could hit post & lost it all.

The saves are in the switch. However you're able to move your save data between consoles as many times as you want. So just move it back and forth depending on where you want to play.

You just need to have the same user account tied to both systems, and use the save data transferring feature with both consoles.

If you have an online subscription, then most games also feature cloud backups, which removes the need to have both consoles present at once.

I would say get your own and transfer your data over so that where-ever you are you can play when you want. There are plenty of Switch protectors out there one is to get a Temper Glass protector installed or self install on it to protect the screen. Then get something like GripCase to hold the Switch in and if you need to place it on the Dock leave it in the case or take it out to Dock the Switch. But do at least get a Pro Controller at least that.
