It's worth noting a little caveat here. Almost all launch Switch games are ineligible if they weren't already redeemed before the update. If you were holding out to redeem, it seems you're out of luck.
Well I've got around 1200 points in my US account,250 in my UK, 100 in my South African, 30 in my Russian and 20 in my Norwegian. I obviously can't combine them all but at least I'll get a free game from the US Eshop and miniscule discounts from the rest. Pathetic really but oh well,it's something.
I just....I just want free small/old eshop downloads again. I got DK Returns (well this one was Club Nintendo, but still) and Wario Lad III on 3DS for free, why can't they continue that? :/
Or something like Zelda Picross, all they care about now is stupid discounts and....and....this. >_>

Keep it PG-13-ish.

Not because of the update, but because of Nintendo's policy on this as a whole. The one year deadline on earning gold points for physical software has always existed, at least in North America.

How dare they not be generous with free stuff. We should boycott!
Not that a company is required to have a loyalty program, but it's the fact that Nintendo's is so stingy and its rules are unnecessarily obtuse. You have one year to earn gold points from physical releases, you only get one percent back with physical releases, and one year to spend the points.
I understand that Nintendo doesn't want people to earn more gold points than they should when physical releases go on sale, but just one year to earn points is ridiculous, especially since the European regions get two years.
Again, I understand that Nintendo is not required to provide this service. But that line of thinking only promotes complacency. Is this better than nothing? Yes. Does it leave a lot to be desired? Absolutely.
