didn't see anything about this on this sub, but i thought i'd share it.

Amazing how much power Youtube gives to it's Big Fat Cat youtubers like the Fine Bros and large corporate companies.

That is really messed up. it really opens up a lot of thoughts about how messed things are on YouTube. I have heard Jim Sterling talk about it but listening to this I didn't realize how messed up it really was. Jim as a note doesn't monetize his videos, so this stealing of other people's hard work is rather disgusting.

Jim Sterling did a video about this after he received a notification of Nintendo wanting to monetize his video since it featured Splatoon content.

Yeah, I saw the video too. Even though I hate Youtubers a lot especially when they claim that they are better than the actual game companies, I agree that this is too extreme. Surely showing some gameplay footage for lets play's and what not shouldn't be an issue.

This is why I want to see Youtube lose to some other site as the place to go for gaming content. Too many stupid tools and mechanics designed to please the film and music industries that end up get abused by gaming companies as well.

I kind of hoped Twitch would play that role, but it doesn't seem to have played out like that yet.

But yeah, we need a new video sharing site. One where the site and its staff stand up for fair use and tell companies to actually prove their claims.
