Yeah, it looks good and has a great price point, but it seems so... generic. There's no personality to it.
Then it fits right in with Nintendo's lineup.
Not really. NSMB, maybe, but most Nintendo games are full of personality.
NSMB, DK, Yoshi, Kirby, and Smash sure don't have a lot of personality.
You forgot Zelda, Mario, Splatoon, Xenoblade, etc.
Modern Mario doesn't but the series as a whole doesn't lack personality. You just have to look back a few years to find one that actually isn't generic. Zelda has plenty of personality, the games actually do try to flesh themselves out and stand out. Splatoon you have got to be joking about, it's the most outlandish game Nintendo's made this generation. Xenoblade definitely does though, I forgot about that one (although to be fair, it's not a very memorable IP in the first place).
It has a very defined personality that screams "FANSERVICE!"
"I'll take a potato chip... AND EAT IT!"
Light Yagami, Death Note
"Ah, the Breakfast Club soundtrack! I can't wait 'til I'm old enough to feel ways about stuff!"
Phillip J. Fry, Futurama
Generic fighting game that's a mishmash of characters. There's really not much to it.
I refer you to my previous statement:
In what world is Smash generic!? It's completely different than most fighting games and is completely off the wall!
There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...
@NintendoFan64: so going by that logic.....then every Zelda, Mario, Metroid etc with the exception of their first games are generic because of their sequels.
Bayonetta is probably objectively the best choice for a DLC Smash character. Wouldn't be my pick, but I cannot think of a character that would be simultaneously be more interesting to implement into Smash, relevant (to both Nintendo and in general) and should be included right about now. The only other choice that comes close would be Shovel Knight.
