At first, my heart skipped a beat. But then, I realized that Project Sora was created by Nintendo and Sora Ltd. to work on Kid Icarus: Uprising.

Maybe Sakurai can elaborate on this at some point- or even Nintendo. Feel bad for the folks who potentially lost their jobs.

I think the studio was designed for Kid Icarus but since then Sora Ltd moved on. I doubt this has any consequence on anything

So does this mean potentially no Kid Icarus Uprising sequel?

And there are people flipping out about Smash Bros. being affected...

Sakurai said he has no plans to make an Uprising sequel. At all. His biggest fear is the expectations of folks of a greater game than Uprising and they've put so much effort in Uprising that he wants to avoid bringing out a game that's too much of the same, or something like that. It's one of the reasons he left HAL Laboratory since he just doesn't like making sequels of games.

Wow, I did not see that coming. I just did a search and there is MASS confusion as to what exactly Sora is and what this means, if anything.

I presume that Project Sora (as a specific, seperate entity) existed just for the KI development. It's not unusual in the business world for entities to be created for a specific, limited purpose only to be dissolved upon completion of the project.

Didn't Iwata once say that Project Sora was solely founded for Kid Icarus?

Yup yup. Founded in 2008 to work on a project that "could not be done by Nintendo alone".

And it was the amazing Kid Icarus Uprising game

I just can't wait for the "Namco is solely working on Super Smash Bros." stories on blogs and such

Not really. I dug up some interviews and it turns out that Project Sora was only founded to make Kid Icarus. Apparently this is quite common in game companies

You do realize that Sora Ltd the actual company is still alive right. Project Sora was just a subsidiary to build kid Icarus and its no longer needed. Project Sora was mostly work for hire with the main staff being apart of Sora Ltd.
