I’m thinking of adding a 2ds xl or New 3ds xl to my collection and yesterday I came across this website
And the prices were quite low and I am just wondering is this a trusted site because I don’t wanna get scammed so if someone had bought from them or something could respond to this that would be great
@ShepherdRicks brand new account posts link to site I've never heard of, talking about low prices, this looks like an invite to malware to me. Or just spam.
Forgive me if you're sincere. It's likely a bogus/scam site.
@ShepherdRicks Forgive me. Unfortunately spammers and bots post the same type of question with a link. Usually a new post like that from a brand new account, that hasn't interacted with anyone else, is typically bogus. So, I apologize if I came off harsh. Since kids use this site too, I erred toward strong caution.
I know it's gotten hard to find 2ds & 3ds consoles since they were discontinued a year ago. Since Nintendo's site and stores don't carry them new anymore in North America. Ebay is about the only place that I can think of to check - look for well established & high rated sellers. Unfortunately, it's probably a sea of scalper prices, if they are brand new.
Nintendo's site did have the black & blue 2ds XL refurbished, last time I looked in November. Nintendo's refurbished consoles are known for being like new, they come in new boxes with manuals. I got the white & orange one refurbished from Nintendo December 2019 for my niece.
@ShepherdRicks Regarding that site, if you google it, one listing says it's a newly registered site. Other listings say scam. If malware wasn't an issue these days, I'd visit the site, but unfortunately malware is a real problem, so I stay away from sites like that to be safe. EDIT: A site advertising a discontinued console for great prices is an excellent attention getter, and probably too good to be true.
@ShepherdRicks I'm in the US, and was just looking around, and no regular stores have new 2ds/3ds consoles, as far as I can see. I wish I could say I've seen somewhere selling them, but I haven't. I searched Gamestop, Target, Bestbuy, Estarland, store.nintendo.com and they don't have new consoles. A few have have refurbished/pre-owned. Walmart shows new ones, but they aren't actually Walmart, they are third party sellers. The only thing I bought from a thrid party seller on Walmart's site was a 3ds AC adapter. It was supposed to be a new, official Nintendo AC adapter, but it was used and I returned it, because I wanted a new one as a gift.
@ShepherdRicks I might be able to show you some good sources. Are you from the US or from Europe? Just asking so I know which shops to recommend to you. I've got quite the list of trusted sources. @WoomyNNYes will confirm...
@ShepherdRicks If you're going to get a Switch, and you can swing it, I say get a regular Switch so you can also play it on TV, remove the joy-cons for two player or table-top mode. But if you only want a dedicated handheld, the Switch Lite is great. Mario Kart 8, Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, and others are amazing.
