Pirates of the Caribbean 3. I mean granted, the problems of parts of it feeling a bit too pandering to fans of Jack Sparrow to ridiculous degrees or having too much things going on that could be their own movie are entirely true. But as a whole the movie's incredibly fun, and honestly far less of a rehash than the 2nd one. While I wish there was more of the 9 pirate leaders or the character deaths or the purgatory Jack ends up in, all of it is really entertaining. The humor's as good as the first movie and all the backstabbing and double crossing is done very well and it's a great conclusion to the series.
I really liked Signs. Even if, admittedly, it didn't make much sense for H2O-intolerant aliens to invade a planet that has water covering 70% of its surface.
Black Dynamite, nobody finds that movie funny at all but I love the darn flick.
Fan of: Shin Megami Tensei/ (Classic) Mega Man/ Pokemon/ Batman Arkham/ Metal Gear Solid/Peanuts/ DBZ/ Regular Show/ Power Rangers/The Walking Dead/ Invincible/ Detective Comics/ Secret Six/ Immortal Iron Fist/ Lobo/ Green Lantern

Signs is an amazing example of great build-up leading to a horrible conclusion.
I probably would have liked the Star Wars prequels more if they didn't have the Star Wars name on them. They were so unlike the original movies (and blatantly disregarded a lot of established, much more interesting storylines for the sake of Lucas' "vision") that I really felt let down by what was done with them. As stand-alone movies they're OK, but nothing that special. As Star Wars movies, they're crap (although they got a bit better by Revenge of the Sith).
One I like is Waterworld. It got absolutely panned, but in hindsight it wasn't THAT bad. I think people got caught up with how much money it cost etc., but if you just look at it as a bit of light entertainment I think it stands up pretty well. Sure, it's a bit predictable, has some hammy acting and the like, but I think it's got some of the best action scenes ever filmed (the atoll scene at the start is incredible) which make it well worth watching. In addition, it has some cool (although perhaps underdeveloped) ideas about society in such a world.
If you haven't seen it, I'd highly recommend it. Just expect more Escape from LA and less Schindler's List.
@ImmatureUnsure i don't see how '2001: A Space Odyssey' could be considered a movie that most people hate. it's considered a classic and has an enormous following.

Show it to anyone in this generation where movies require big-budget effects and action in every scene and they'll start whining about how it's too long. I guess it only appeals to die-hard movie fans. While we are at it, Alien is another example.
2001 is an odd duck — it's one of those movies that most people (who have any sense) will agree is a great film, while at the same time many of those same people don't necessarily enjoy it. Personally, i love it.

A decade-plus of hating seems a little childish at this point.
Welcome to the internet!
This happens off the internet too, in case you haven't seen it.
Star Wars fans in general tend to lose it when people mention Jar Jar.
I just went to Disneyland last year and got to go on the new Star Tours (best ride ever) and guess what happened when we went to Naboo? The moment we saw Jar Jar happily waving to us after going underwater, people started booing and yelling "you don't belong in SW!" etc. I acually shot back with "Jar Jar rules!" Then when you go into the gift shop afterwards I saw some guys giggling at the fact that one pack of figures required you to get a Jar Jar one.
Watching any Youtube recording of Star Tours with Naboo being one of the destinations will always guarantee you hearing guys booing or saying sommething like "Hit him!"
I still think Monsters Inc. is a vastly overrated film, whereas A Bug's Life is underrated.
I agree about Bug's Life; I think it was more deserving of a sequel than Cars (and Incredibles), I still remember that teaser for it were they made it seem like Bug's Life 2 was being made, instead it was Car$$$. Pixar trolled us big time.
But with Monster's Inc. it seems like a forgotten movie compared to Pixar's more recent stuff. No one talked about it ever again after "that one movie with that clownfish getting lost."
People hated that? I just thought no one saw it because of a few bad early reviews. I thought it was okay, but the second half made me a bit uneasy. I have a feeling they changed too much from the source material.

I remember that.
"Oh yay it's a sequel to one of my beloved childhood movies!....Oh wait no it's just Larry the Cable Guy in truck form."
