A lot of games have had simple hand-drawn or CGI artwork of characters, items, etc. but a lot of them also have had great pieces of work showcasing events within the game, whether it be on the boxart itself or a special piece done for extra content.
Here's two of my favorites, which also happen to be from two of my all-time favorite games; Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga.
Both of these fantastic pieces just really pull you into what the game will be about, and both emit an epic scale that just really comes out at you. I'd really love to have these framed and hanging on my wall one day.
I have been really impressed with Other M's art gallery overall. My favorite piece from those images is the art of Samus in her professional civilian clothes. Her purple shirt is my favorite of the clothes she has worn beyond her suit of armor.
