Topic: Super VS. Thread

This thread is simply a "this or that" thread but rather pairing two similar things together.

Fire Emblem and Advance Wars are Nintendo's two strategy games and is both developed by the same developer, Intelligent Systems. The two have striking simalarities but are two different games. One's a modern-like warzone, while the other is a medieval-themed battlefield.

Both are great games. But which one do you prefer? As for how this thread works, you pick either of the two combatants, explain your reasoning (optional, really) and you can nominate what the next battle will be.

This original post will have the results of every match. As for when the topic changes (in terms of "what vs what"), I'm thinking of updating every 3 days. Really depends on the response of this topic. Anything can happen, so, I'll just go with the flow.

I'll pick Advance Wars. Always like the series more than Fire Emblem. Though, I suck at the games..

I nominate: Hotel vs Motel

Fire Emblem. The RPG elements make Advance Wars look shallow in comparison, I like having each unit as a character instead of a bunch of generic soldiers, and I think it's great when these kinds of games let you choose which units to build your team with.

I can't really think of anything to nominate. :/

I second Hotel Vs. Motel as a nomination.

Anyways, I much prefer the simple charm of Nintendo Wars. Ever since Super Famicom Wars the series has been perfectly designed. It's such a fun, fun, series. I can't say the same for Fire Emblem, though.

I really need to get back into Days of Ruin. I love Advance Wars but I freaking suck at them...

Advance Wars wins. I like Fire Emblem, but for one thing, I think they're way too easy. Perma death doesn't make the game more difficult, it just makes it frustrating for me
I also think that Advance Wars takes more tactics than Fire Emblem. AW doesn't have as much factors in gameplay, but in Fire Emblem, I learned that you can pretty much send your best guy straight into the battlefield and they'll kill everyone.
And Advance Wars has more replay value.
