Wow. I didn't realize the disparity between the quality of different GameStops. I'm also someone who used to work at GameStop, and the place where I worked was staffed by a very cool group of people, who didn't condone the kind of behavior I've seen spoken of on this thread. In fact, I was fired because I showed up late too many times. I can guarantee that wouldn't have happened if they didn't care about their customers and the quality of their employees.

the people at my gamestop were ok, just uninformed. The assistant manager didn't like video games at all and he was going to college to be a banker (which says a lot about how dull he was) and while the manager was cool, he never recommended appropriate titles to the people who were asking. I only say this because instead of asking them what they would like, he would look at them and assume what they liked. A small girl came in and asked what kind of game would be good for her DS. He recommended Nintendogs and Littlest pet Shop. She thanked him and when he moved on she asked me. I ended up selling her a copy of Phantom hourglass and a nintendo points card because she wanted a sodoku game to download. She liked games that tested her wit and thinking skills--not games that forced her to do mundane and repetitive tasks.

As someone who formerly worked for gamestop I have to point out that you are dead wrong on this.

I stand corrected. I was happier with a cheery delusion that "new" means "new."

I hate DS games that don't let you COMPLETELY wipe the save data. I always make a point to wipe my data when possible after checking a game out, though. And I do my best to only check out USED games when at all possible, because I don't really like the thought of selling the game I checked out as "new."

This "using the cards" thing is utter BS, though. I'm 100% sure employees are NOT allowed to do that. True, there's no good way to stop them, but that doesn't mean they have permission to do it. That's just low and dirty.

as for the people talking of Play-N-Trade, I have one in my town and they are possibly the nicest, most generous people, I have ever had the pleasure to meet.

yeah, theyre awesome. my friend and i came in and saw a poster about Retro Month, a month where all retro games and systems were 15% off, so we asked about it and it turned out that poster was left over from last month, but the employee said that he would still give us the discount for half the games that we bought that day

I go to Gamestop all the time and always get New Copies of my games. Unless i see a really good deal on a used copy of a game. Sometimes Gamestop can be expensive but, then again for all that I've found there i would have to pay almost double at my work for it. Thats why i'm buying NFS Nitro from my Gamestop in the next town its just under 5 mins away.

For me, Gamestop is heaven. 1. It's a video game store 2. My town sucks and doesn't have any video game specalty stores or even good just plain stores that sell games. 3. I just love Gamestop, when I'm in a different city, I always want to go to Gamestop if they have one.

The annoying thing about Gamestop: every time I go into a Gamestop they tempt me to preorder a game, and I constantly fall for it.

Current games: Everything on Switch

@stuffgamer1 Oh yeah I hated it. I NEVER registered the code, but one of my former co-workers bragged about it. How it was so much easier than buying games, and how he would rent a copy of wii fit plus to get the coins, then return it.

@jangonov: What an a-hole! The only code-related thing I've ever done at GameStop was harvest codes for games I bought but didn't still have the codes for (I used to just toss them back before Club Nintendo started, because My Nintendo was pretty much worthless) from USED games. Nothing wrong with that, because someone buying a used game has no reason to expect a code to be in the box in the first place (though it is amusing how they always work...nobody ever uses them, apparently). But I NEVER take a code for a game I haven't even played and/or bought. That's just plain wrong.

I checked that store locator for Play 'N Trade. There are NO stores within 25 miles of me, and only 2 within 50...both in Virginia. WAY too far to go, unfortunately. Someone needs to open one up in the BWI area.

My EB sucks, they wouldn't even acknowledge their deal of buying a copy of Battletoads and getting a free Wii!
