@antdickens so now you guys are going to allow volatile conversations about white supremacist ideologies because you deem them as "opinions" instead of core beliefs on a game site that is supposed to be about games? Yeah being able to ignore others is totally going to make this work. 🙄

My thoughts exactly. "Rather than ban or suspend users for inflammatory content, we'll make it so you can just ignore them! That way, we won't lose clicks!"

Honestly, i'm not surprised given that the comments section on that JonTron thread is still open despite the horrible comments going on in there.

@the_shpydar the funny thing is Nintendo Life has shut down threads when it comes to sexism or gay marriage. I guess they are ok with racism.

I can say that's actually not true. Although I do agree that particular comment section should've never been left open.

@Meowpheel they actually closed it then reopened it. My point still stands. I've seen them lock threads before on other subjects dealing with sexism and anti gay bigotry. Why leave this on open unless the general staff consensus is ok with white supremacist ideology running a mok in a site about games.

Nice. I haven't really experienced a lot of situations where I might want to ignore someone (although apparently I'm alone there) but it's nice to have that option if things become too heated.

I don't think I'll be using the feature personally, I might miss out on something useful.

This is why i left years ago. Not specifically the racism thing... But the whole container it all fits in. NL was lousy with it a few years ago.... And surprise surprise, its always the same users who are the feircest corporate worshippers, with no concept of context or naunce, that peddle the garbage like whats seen in that thread. Every forum, everywhere, everytime.

Its gotten to the point I can literally point out in advance which ones it will be when the subject eventually comes up, just from the way their broken logic works on other subjects..... With depressing accuracy. The overlap on that vinn diagram is massive.

Frankly i don't think the ignore feature can resolve any problem. We all know people sre different. There can be arguments, it's natural. But it all ends there. Tomorrow is another day. I'm not gonna use this too...

I'm pretty thankful for this. Sometimes people make a place really uncomfortable to hang out and chat and that is terrible considering that NL is a decent place overall. I look at it this way, you can't change some anon on the internet yet you may not want to deal with hearing them shouting to be heard. They can speak and now you can choose not to listen. Everyone wins. It would be cool if we had a PM system though.

The only user I've ever really wanted to use this feature on was banned a while ago. Thanks anyway. I haven't really thought of a downside to this feature.

This could be very beneficial; it could deter users from making outlandish comments because they'll just be ignored...

At the same time, to be ignored by users and not know that I'm being ignored or why? Uggghhhh. Just imagine taking the time to write out a big ol' comment and legit everyone in the thread is ignoring you; then imagine it's just because you mentioned peanuts or something and everyone there hates peanuts.

I still vouch for the hearts on the forums, not because I want the drama but because I'd like to heart people when I've read their post so they know the post reached an actual human person. If I can ignore people, I feel like I need some way to give them some gratification as well. There are many times where a reply feels exaggerated, especially if I've just read over 20 posts from different people. I would agree the hearts is not the ideal solution, but I feel the need for...something.

@MasterWario we can test it out, ignore me and tell me when to mention you.

Then someone else can say I mentioned you so you know when to check your mail.
