About
Huzzah! The holy war is over! Your oppressors have been vanquished, the churches of the Old God lay in ruin and thousands of innocent people have been murdered!
But it's not all good news; the tyrant Heavenly Peter has escaped your clutches, and you have been tasked with finding him…
The Procession to Calvary is a Pythonesque adventure game in which you journey through a richly detailed landscape built from hundreds of Renaissance paintings.
Key Features:
Pointing and Clicking: A traditional point and click interface, with a 'verb coin' interaction menu and a simple inventory from which you can access your preciously hoarded items
Renaissance Artwork: Paintings by Rembrandt, Botticelli, Michelangelo and many more are brought together into one consistent world
Classical Music: A soundtrack selected to fit with the style of the artwork. Enjoy music from composers such as Vivaldi, Bach, and George Frideric Handel
Optional Murder: Kill anyone who stands in your way and skip puzzles you don’t like. But be warned; your actions might come back to haunt you…
Nonsense: Humour reminiscent of Monty Python. But rest assured, while some of the jokes may be ridiculous, the puzzles make perfect sense!

The very first moment you lay eyes on The Procession To Calvary you'll probably be reminded of the iconic British comedy series Monty Python, thanks to the use of cut-up, pre-existing classical artwork. However, while this is a huge part of the game's visual appeal, its sense of humour is actually more unique than that, and it often challenges genre favourites such as Monkey Island and Sam & Max when it comes to absurdist jokes and belly laughs. In fact, we'd even dare to say that, in its funniest moments, The Procession To Calvary (named after the Pieter Bruegel the Elder painting of the same title) even manages to surpass those titles.

The Procession to Calvary is a pretty unique point-and-click adventure / puzzle game. Made up almost entirely of visual elements cut-and-pasted directly from classical works of European art, it manages to be very funny at times and truly vexing at others.
The good:
- Distinctive, humorous art style
- Great classical music soundtrack
- Genuinely funny writing
- Some really creative puzzles
'
The meh:
- Some puzzles are so obtuse, I got completely stuck
- You can unintentionally kill some of the NPCs, thus preventing your ability to progress later on
'
Recommended if you like British humor and point-and-click adventure games.
