All told, Mega Man X Legacy Collection is a fantastic re-release of several must-play gaming classics, presenting them as authentically as possible while still including a few modern features on top that help to improve the overall experience and keep it from feeling antiquated. Throw in the new X Challenge mode and an enormous archive of museum content and this stands as the definitive way to play the Mega Man X games in the modern era. Four fantastic games, a bevy of extra content, and the ability to play at home or on the go make this one an easy recommendation.

Mega Man X is one of my all-time favorite games on any platform, and its mere inclusion in this collection is pretty much all I need to get my money's worth. Fortunately, Capcom has done a fine job of making this and the three following games in the MMX series available on Nintendo Switch, and it's easily worth the asking price.

That said, Mega Man X is one of those series that, for me at least, peaked with its first game. The second and third games are very iterative, with little in the way of new features or improvements, and the fourth is set apart mostly by virtue of being a PlayStation game, rather than SNES.

I'm not complaining! All four games are very good; I'm just a massive fan of the first, which is a 10/10 for me by itself as it was one of my first SNES games as a kid. I've played it so many times I practically have it memorized. Few other games even approach its quality for me.

I'd still recommend this collection if it was just the games, but Capcom beefed it up with extra content, including a boss rush mode, lots of artwork from the development history, and save states. Every Mega Man fan or curious newcomer should own this collection.
