Mega Man 11 is an excellent resurgence for the Blue Bomber, imbuing the tried-and-true classic gameplay with modern touches and new ideas that expand on existing concepts in interesting ways. The underlying action platforming gameplay is just as tight and challenging as you remember, and when combined with the new visuals and extra options for replayability, you’ve got a game that’s every bit as good as those that came before, while surpassing them in some ways. Mega Man 11 is a modern classic, a fitting refresh for a beloved series, and we’d highly recommend you add this one to your Switch library whether you’re a newcomer or you’ve been playing since the NES days. Bravo, Capcom.

I'm a big Mega Man fan. Mega Man 2 and Mega Man X remain among my all-time favorite games. I enjoyed Mega Man 9 and 10 for what their developers tried to accomplish, but I wanted more. Mega Man 11 satisfied my desire for a return to the classic formula combined with modern sensibilities and visual elements.
All that said, while Mega Man 11 is enjoyable and high-quality, I don't feel like it stands out all that much in the broader series. Granted, this is because there are some really great titles in there. Mega Man 11 looks good, plays great, and sounds fine. The music is decent but unremarkable, which is probably my biggest criticism.
As usual, the Robot Masters are mostly redesigned versions of guys we've seen before. Still, these battles are a big highlight, especially with the gimmicky Double Gear system this game introduces. It's basically a time-slowing mechanic and weapon boost.
It's a very good game, and one I greatly enjoyed my time with, yet I haven't returned to it. There are too many other new and interesting games, I suppose, and very few modern games can match my nostalgia for the titles I grew up with.
Still, Mega Man 11 shows Capcom at least cared enough to try and revive the series, and I appreciate that. I just hope its modest success doesn't put Capcom off from trying again soon.
