It’s impossible to talk about everything that makes The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom so incredible, and making many of those discoveries yourselves is part of the magic. It’s also impossible to overstate just how much there is to do in Hyrule this time around. Much like its predecessor, this is your playground for the next however many years to come, with a little sprinkling of that older Zelda fairy dust mixed into Breath of the Wild’s formula. It’s a glorious, triumphant sequel to one of the best video games of all time; absolute unfiltered bliss to lose yourself in for hundreds of hours. We can’t wait to see what the world will do with the game.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is not, in my opinion, quite as good as its predecessor, Breath of the Wild. It did not have the same impact or sense of wonder. But then, what game could? BotW changed gaming forever in 2017, and its sequel had big shoes to fill.
That is not to say TotK is not a great game! It is astonishing in its breadth and depth. I was smiling ear-to-ear the first time I launched Link into the sky from one of Purah's towers to survey the land below. I loved traversing and rediscovering the Hyrule I had grown to love so much in BotW. I thrilled at island-hopping in the sky. I was challenged by scouring the depths below ground. I had a blast with the epic boss battles. And even though the story basically discards all of the series' history and lore, I enjoyed its narrative probably more than any other Zelda game besides The Wind Waker.
Tears of the Kingdom is a triumph, and one of the absolute best video games of the decade so far. Its mechanics are astonishing. There is so much to see and do, and for the truly creative, an almost infinite list of possibilities when it comes to building devices for travel and battle. I will always prefer Breath of the Wild, because of its absolutely massive impact when I first played it, but TotK is a worthy sequel.

Incredible improvement onto 2017's breath of the wild, I love this game and have put so much time into it. Even after 100%ing the game, messing around with zonai contraptions is incredibly fun (I wish there was a mode you could unlock with infinite zonai devices to mess around with them without needing to accrue ridiculous amounts of them), it's truly one of the best games to get on the switch, doubly so if you also have the first game
