Forget everything you know about The Legend of Zelda games. Step into a world of discovery, exploration, and adventure in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a boundary-breaking new game in the acclaimed series. Travel across vast fields, through forests, and to mountain peaks as you discover what has become of the kingdom of Hyrule In this stunning Open-Air Adventure. Now on Nintendo Switch, your journey is freer and more open than ever. Take your system anywhere, and adventure as Link any way you like.

Features:

  • Explore the wilds of Hyrule any way you like—anytime, anywhere! - Climb up towers and mountain peaks in search of new destinations, then set your own path to get there and plunge into the wilderness. Along the way, you'll battle towering enemies, hunt wild beasts and gather ingredients for the food and elixirs you'll make to sustain you on your journey. With Nintendo Switch, you can literally take your journey anywhere.
  • More than 100 Shrines of Trials to discover and explore - Shrines dot the landscape, waiting to be discovered in any order you want. Search for them in various ways, and solve a variety of puzzles inside. The tasks you must perform in each Shrine varies, and you'll never expect the challenges you'll face until you enter. Some will involve realistic physics, and some will require you to harness the power of nature, including electricity, wind, fire, and more. Work your way through the traps and devices inside, utilizing your runes and think outside the box to earn special items and other rewards that will help you on your adventure.
  • Be prepared and properly equipped – With an entire world waiting to be explored, you'll need a variety of outfits and gear to reach every corner. You may need to bundle up with warmer clothes or change into something better suited to the desert heat. Some clothing even has special effects that, for example, can make you faster or stealthier.
  • Battling enemies requires strategy – The world is inhabited with enemies of all shapes and sizes. Each one has its own attack method and weaponry, so you must think quickly and develop the right strategies to defeat them.
  • amiibo compatibility – The Wolf Link amiibo from Twilight Princess HD, the Zelda 30th Anniversary series amiibo, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild series amiibo are all compatible with this game. Tap the Wolf Link amiibo (sold separately) to make Wolf Link appear in the game. Wolf Link will attack enemies on his own and help you find items you’re searching for. Tap a Zelda 30th Anniversary series amiibo to receive helpful in-game items or even a treasure chest!

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a landmark release for its franchise and Nintendo. It's the first time that Nintendo has truly taken on the open-world genre in a current-generation sense; in arriving late to the party, though, it embraces some strengths from top-of-the-class games while also forging its own identity. This game is a revolution for the franchise, but the Legend of Zelda essence is still there - its soul remains.

The end result, then, is a captivating experience. This will be in the running as the best game in the IP's history, and it will likely be discussed as a leading contender in the broader open-world genre. Nintendo has bravely taken one of its biggest franchises in a new direction, and it's delivered a triumph.

One of the best games I've ever played. I've lost many hours simply exploring the beautiful world Nintendo created, around every corner is a small puzzle to solve or side quest, all of which are well thought through and engaging.
If you only play one game on the Switch, this should be it.

Honestly there's not much I can really say that hasn't already been said but I'll give it a try. Breath of the wild is easily one of the greatest games ever. The open world is just simply breathtaking, it's massive size and massive list of things to do always fills me with quite a bit of determination. Plus at the time it was a nice change of pace for the series and all of the different costumes and weapon types you could have were always fun to experiment with.

Possibly the best game you’ll ever play.

Nothing has ever matched the experience of discovering this version of hyrule for the first time, losing literally weeks of my life back in 2017 and many more since.

Just buy it. Don’t think about it. Just buy it.

I don’t like this 50 word review requirement.

There is a very good argument to this being the greatest game ever made. It has a huge world to explore at your pace, hundreds of little puzzles that are all optional, and plenty of unique strategies to take out your opponents. Even seven years and hundreds of hours later, I regularly revisit this game, and I simply do not grow tired of it.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild fulfills the promise made by the earliest open-world games decades ago. It gives you a few tools, guides you through a bold and mostly hands-off tutorial, then literally shoves you off a cliff and says "GO." I have played hundreds of hours and still find new surprises in every playthrough.

This game changed my life. It is simply the greatest and most enjoyable form of interactive entertainment I have ever experienced. It belongs in the gaming canon, as one of those titles that must be played at least once by all.
