Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is undoubtedly the best way to play one of the greatest games of all time. The visual and performance enhancements remove any issues that you may have had to endure with the original game. It's practically flawless from that perspective.
Sadly, the Zelda Notes app really brings the whole thing down. Useful features that should have been implemented in-game have been relegated to your smartphone, and using it completely breaks immersion in this incredible world. I'm only thankful that it's not even remotely mandatory. Leave Zelda Notes to one side, and you've got the definitive presentation of a modern classic.

The original version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is my favorite game, and easily 10/10. While this enhanced Nintendo Switch 2 port does not really do anything meaningful other than a boost to perfect 60 fps performance with HD and 4K visuals, the core game is still excellent in virtually every respect.
Breath of the Wild is not perfect. I could list many things I'd like to see changed or improved, but coming back to this game for my fifth playthrough, and experiencing it again with even better presentation, it reminded me how wonderful the world is to explore. I could not put it down for weeks. I sank another 150+ hours into a game I practically know by heart.
The smartphone stuff is fine but unnecessary. I never listened to any of the Zelda voice notes, and barely touched the other features. It's nice in theory to see how my stats stack up against other players, but there's not enough detail to make it interesting. All of it should have been included in the game, not a freaking smartphone app, but that's Nintendo for you.
This really ought to be a free upgrade for all owners of the base game, given the lack of new content, but it's still worth $10 if you don't have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. If you've never played Breath of the Wild at all, there's no better time to get started. It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
