About
Save Hyrule on your TV - or on the go!
Cut down enemy hordes as Legend of Zelda characters—in full 1080p TV mode—or in two-player on one system! Link and Zelda can battle in costumes from the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild game, while Tetra and King Daphnes appear in scenes based on the Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker game.
Find and care for fairies who will aid you in battle! All features and downloadable content from past versions of the game, including My Fairy mode and elements from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, can now be enjoyed in crisp HD on the Nintendo Switch system.
This time, you won't face the dark sorceress, Cia, alone. Command legendary heroes and villains in battle to achieve objectives as you unleash special attacks. Advance the story to unlock characters, each with their own moves and weapon types. Collect rupees and other items to upgrade weapons and craft badges, which bolster your warriors' abilities.
The fate of Hyrule rests in your hands!

All told, Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition is a great time-sink game, featuring mindless but fun action gameplay that offers up the potential for dozens - if not hundreds - of hours of content. Though it certainly feels like a game that’s too bloated in places, it manages to balance the Zelda and Dynasty Warriors elements well. Group all of that with stellar presentation and impressive portable gameplay, and you’ve got a game that does a great job of doing something new (and weird) with a classic Nintendo property. We’d give this one a recommendation, especially to fans of the Zelda series who have always wanted there to be some sort of 'anniversary' game. Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition may not have a ton of depth, but it’s way more fun than it has any right to be, and you’d be missing out by not picking up this complete edition.

Hyrule Warriors is outrageous, silly, stupid fun. I mean "stupid" in the best possible way: the story is absolutely bonkers, yet somehow engrossing. The heroes are all out of place. and other than the characters, setting, and music, it has nothing in common with any prior Zelda game. In spite of that, it remains one of my favorite Zelda titles.
You don't need great skill or patience to enjoy this button-masher, but some strategic thinking helps. This is very much a Musou game, meaning it closely adheres to the formula of Koei Tecmo's long-running Warriors mega-franchise. You control various characters from the Zelda universe, including a few delightful surprises and original creations, hacking and slashing your way through hordes of enemies. You must deploy allies to various parts of a maze-like map to complete various objectives. Rinse and repeat.
The music is fantastic, made up mostly of high-energy rock / metal arrangements of classic Zelda tunes. The characters' special moves are even more over-the-top than anything in Super Smash Bros. The bizarre story is so dumb it actually works, and in fact serves my headcanon / fanon as explaining how the multiple timelines of Zelda lore all merged back together before the events of Breath of the Wild.
I liked this game on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, but I absolutely loved it on Nintendo Switch. It looks and plays great. Highly recommended!
