If you’ve been craving an arcade racer for your Switch, look no further. Horizon Chase Turbo is a hugely enjoyable love letter to a gaming era when the cars were fast, the music was catchy, the action was smooth and the sky was bluer than an Eddie Murphy stand-up routine. Its enormous selection of tracks, addictive World Tour mode and excellent local multiplayer make it an absolute must-have for anyone even remotely interested in the genre.

Horizon Chase Turbo is a modern take on Kemco's venerable Top Gear / Top Racer franchise, in all but name. Original series composer Barry Leitch produced the fantastic soundtrack, and the vehicles bear some similarities to those from TG/TR, but everything else is fresh and fast.
There's a great sense of speed as the game performs at a solid 60 fps throughout the many, many courses and races available for dedicated drivers. The primary campaign takes you on a global tour full of tracks inspired by real-world locations. There's also available DLC inspired by legendary Brazilian racer Ayrton Senna. You won't quickly run out of things to do here.
There is, of course, some rubber-banding by CPU-controlled drivers, and you'll need to hit as many of the refueling icons as possible on each track to avoid running out of gas, especially on the tougher courses. There are also special challenge tracks you can take on, optionally, for a chance to earn upgrades that will improve your cars.
I love arcade-style racing games, and HCT is one of the best games in that category. Highly recommended to racing fans!
