About

In the year 2102, the world's conflicts are fought using giant war machines called Wanzers. In the impoverished People's Republic of Alordesh, soldiers of the Alordesh Army, grieving over their country's plight, rise up en masse. Calling themselves the Revolutionary Army, they declare independence from the O.C.U. (Oceania Cooperative Union).

Ash, an O.C.U. soldier, manages to survive the ensuing battle, but Alordesh is completely overrun by the Revolutionary Army. Ash and his surviving teammates infiltrate Alordesh's chaotic underground in attempt to escape the country. However, they soon discover that there is a huge conspiracy behind the coup.

FRONT MISSION 2: Remake preserves the mature story, strategic turn-based combat, and Wanzer customization options that the original was renowned for, while updating the visuals and adding new features and enhancements:

  • Support for many new languages
  • New 'free camera' option to zoom in during gameplay and check out Wanzers in detail
  • New coloring and camouflage options
  • Modern in-game effects
  • Rearranged soundtrack

Nintendo Life said:

The combat kept us from enjoying Front Mission 2: Remake due to its over-reliance on dice-roll luck to succeed, but the plot has some decent story beats if you aren’t bothered by obvious localisation errors. We did enjoy the customisation options of the Wanzers, but battles felt slow and dull when the RNG gods weren’t on our side. Just like with the first game, this one will service longtime fans of the series and its combat adequately if they can overlook this remake's rough edges.
