About

The world has fallen under the dominion of the Shinra Electric Power Company, a sinister corporation that has monopolized the planet's very life force as Mako energy.

In the urban megalopolis of Midgar, an anti-Shinra rebel group calling themselves Avalanche have stepped up their campaign of resistance.

Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra's elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to the rebels, unaware that he will be drawn into an epic battle for the fate of the planet, while having to come to terms with his own lost past.

This game is a port of the original FINAL FANTASY VII.

The following extra features are included:

  • 3x speed mode
  • Ability to turn battle encounters off
  • Battle enhancement mode

Final Fantasy VII is the sort of game that speaks for itself, a touchstone of game design that played a large role in setting the standard of RPGs for years to come. It goes without saying that you should give Final Fantasy VII a shot if you consider yourself to be a fan of RPGs, as this is an experience unlike any other in many ways. With that being said, it’s also the sort of thing that has since been surpassed in almost every manner by games that took the concepts it introduced and expanded upon them in plenty of new and more interesting ways. Final Fantasy VII is a relic of its time, but that doesn’t mean it’s to be respected any less; if you can look past the obviously antiquated elements, this is a well-paced, engaging RPG that’s still fun to play today – it’s more than worthy of your time.

Nearly 30 years after it changed gaming forever on PlayStation, Final Fantasy VII remains as playable, enjoyable, and memorable as ever.

As a Nintendo 64 snob in the late 1990s, I turned my nose up at the four-disc JRPG my roommate was playing on his PS1. That was a mistake I did not rectify for many years afterward, and when I finally did play FF7 for the first time, on PC, I recognized that this really was (and still is) one of the best role-playing games ever created.

It took far too long, but Final Fantasy VII is now available on a Nintendo platform, where it was originally intended to be before Nintendo chose the N64 cartridge format and SquareSoft pivoted to Sony. Today, all is forgiven, and there's never been a better way to experience this all-time great, especially ahead of its remake series coming to Nintendo Switch 2.
