Fast Fusion may not have the most comprehensive collection of tracks, but it's easily the most accomplished entry in Shin'en Multimedia's series so far. The new jump ability adds a new layer of strategy to the gameplay, while experimenting with the fusion mechanic to find the perfect vehicle is a joy. The occasional grinding to save up money can be a momentary drag, but if you're after something a bit more 'hardcore' than Mario Kart World, Fast Fusion is a no-brainer, and an absolute must-buy.

Previous entries in the FAST series from Shin'en have always been sheer flexes - they see the hardware for what it is; then try and pull everything they want out of it - a testament to their enduring demoscene legacy. League was groundbreaking, NEO was tasty. RMX was glazing. But all of them had a fatal flaw - their campaigns were perhaps too tough. It's impossible to feel like you have a handle on the game when the AI drags you down to its level and pulls you over the bumps of your own track inexperience.
With Fusion., Shin'en have successfuly married demoscene know-how with peerless difficulty tuning, then sprinkled on a truly pounding soundtrack. DLSS-induced image quality issues aside, Fast Fusion is the sort of pulse-pounding thrill ride you'll have difficulty finding this early in the Switch 2's lifespan. An easy improvement over its earlier brothers.
