A masterpiece to this day, Duke Nukem 3D is done proud by this Switch conversion. It looks and runs briliantly, the online options are a welcome inclusion and it's not compromised in any way from its earlier console release. It's a shame that a handful of previously-available expansion packs are missing, but given the low price of World Tour Edition, it feels churlish to complain. In the words of the Duke himself, come get some.

If DOOM is the grandfather of the FPS, Duke Nukem 3D is the genre's crazy, hard-drinking uncle. Its rude-and-crude attitude and sexist humor has not aged particularly well, but look past the juvenile gags and you'll find a rollicking good time.

I played DN3D on PC back in the mid-1990s when it was new, and this edition looks and plays far better than I remember. Everything here is sharp, fast, and crisp. There's not much to learn: you run around and kill or blow up everything that moves, and solve some simple button or switch puzzles to proceed through the environments. Everything feels much more open and three-dimensional than DOOM, thanks to the power of the then-revolutionary Build Engine designed to make the game possible.

Highly recommended for FPS and boomer shooter fans, especially at its great price!
