Much like the port of the first game, Doom II on Switch delivers a solid rendition of a classic FPS with only a handful of audio and visual issues preventing it from being perfect. It holds up just as well the original Doom does, and its price is similarly reasonable: as a result, we naturally recommend this one just as much as we do its predecessor.

DOOM II is a little bit better than the original in most respects, yet I give it a lower review score. Why? Honestly, I just have more nostalgia for the original, I know it better, and I have more fun with it. DOOM II has bigger maps, greater enemy variety, and increased difficulty compared to the 1993 classic. If you enjoy the first game (or any first-person shooter, really), you will like DOOM II.

However, I really urge you to buy one of the DOOM compilations instead of the stand-alone DOOM II. They are a better value, and you'll get the same great game and a seemingly endless supply of DLC.
