Given that we’ve only had SNES and GBA versions before, this new Switch port of Doom is the best version ever released on a Nintendo system by a country mile. That doesn’t mean it’s perfect, though: its annoying still-to-be-fixed DRM and its smattering of small technical issues does dampen the entertainment somewhat. That aside, if you’re looking to slay hordes of Hellspawn on the move, there’s no better way.

I don't need to tell you anything about the original 1993 PC game DOOM that you don't already know. It is every bit as important to video game history as Tetris, Super Mario Bros., Space Invaders, Pac-Man, and Street Fighter II. You should play it, and unless you absolutely hate first-person shooter games, I can promise you will have a good time.
Yes, I know DOOM is intended to be played on a PC with mouse and keyboard. If that's your preference, no one is stopping you! But if you're like me and you just get more enjoyment out of playing with a controller on a big TV in your living room, this is absolutely the best way to experience DOOM. It looks and plays great whether on TV or on the go, and the literally hundreds of free DLC maps make this one of the best gaming values on Nintendo Switch.
It's five bucks and it frequently goes on sale for even less. What are you waiting for?
