About
Save the Metal, Save the World, Save the Coffee!
Coffee Crisis is an arcade-style beat 'em up that pays homage to the 90's era of classic arcade and 16-bit brawlers.
The Smurglian race has come to Earth and they're not leaving until they steal our most prized commodities: our metal music, the best coffee, and all of the WiFi. Get in the shoes of the only baristas on Earth with enough heavy metal in their veins to fend off this alien assault.
The game features:
- Single or Local Co-Op Play
- Heavy Metal
- Possessed Grannies
- Dangerous amounts of caffeine
- Random modifiers that could make you an invincible killing machine or summon a swarm of raging possessed cowgirls. Get a unique cup of beat 'em up action every time you play!
Grab a hot mug and save the world!

I wanted to like Coffee Crisis. After all, I enjoy beat-'em-ups, retro-style games, heavy metal music, and the retro gaming YouTuber, Metal Jesus Rocks. This game has all of those elements... but it just didn't really work out for me.
The music is pretty decent. The writing is not great, but fine, I guess. The gameplay's the thing, though, right? In this case, it's just OK. Hit detection feels kind of off; enemy mobs can sometimes just be ignored, and the female character has a sort of game-breaking jump-kick that can be spammed for fairly consistent, risk-free attacks.
The programming needs some work, and that was what made me finally give up and move on. I got to the Metal Jesus boss, got him down to 1HP, and he suddenly ended up stuck in a walk cycle at the bottom of the screen. I could not reach him or attack him, or move anywhere off screen. Basically, I was soft-locked. The game isn't good enough for me to restart and try again.
