Long-time franchise players and military aviation enthusiasts will be overwhelmed by the fan service at every turn, from craters on the ground to airplanes, liveries, callsigns, and emblems shouting out to previous entries - all ready to play all on the physical cartridge (strangely exclusive to Europe) with nothing to download if you take that route. We understand the genre is uniquely niche, but if this is your first foray into the franchise, this conversion is a perfect gateway into this rich, revered series. You get tons of content and an epic single-player campaign wrapped up in triple-A presentation that now delivers the most comprehensive portable experience ever delivered by Project Aces.

Don't settle for imitators! The triumphant debut of the Ace Combat series on a Nintendo home console is not only one of the best aerial combat simulators ever, it's also a superb port that pushes the Nintendo Switch beyond its alleged limits.
The good:
Exceptional gameplay, accessible to all skill levels
Some of the best-looking visuals on the Nintendo Switch
Very few compromises compared to the PS4 version
Lots of aircraft, weapons, and customization accessories
Loads of extra content
High replay value
Solid 30fps performance for the most part
The meh:
Slightly absurd story, told with inscrutable cut-scene dialogue (but these can be skipped)
No 60fps performance mode, though this is understandable given the hardware limitations
If you have any interest at all in flight simulators or somewhat realistic dogfighting with real military aircraft, Ace Combat 7 belongs in your Nintendo Switch library. Highly recommended!
