Rawlab Games, in collaboration with Japanese company Tatsujin, has announced that the erotic '90s arcade game Pipi & Bibi’s is currently in development for the Nintendo Switch. Originally released in 1991, the game was developed by Toaplan, but after the company's bankruptcy in 1994, most of its IP rights went over to Tatsujin.
As reported by Go Nintendo, the remaster will launch under the title Spy Bros. (Pipi & Bibi’s DX) and is currently targeted for Q4 2022. The publisher has announced that little is being done to alter the game's visuals and mechanics, with the developer opting to stay true to the original's aethetics, however design improvements and bonus content will be included in the new release (so it's probably more of a modern port than a remaster).
Here's some official info from Rawlab Games:
Is there such a thing as nostalgia for unknown games? Pipi & Bibi’s was a fun but unknown game. Few arcades dared to license it because of its erotic motif and high difficulty.
This remaster is being directed by Pablo Navarro, CEO and programmer at RAWRLAB Games. It will include many improvements over the original game to make it more fun for fans of the original who want to relive their memories, and for those looking to try out this classic game first-hand.
Pipi & Bibi’s (also known as Whoopee in Japan) is an arcade video game developed and published by TOAPLAN in 1991. This game did not reach the fame of other TOAPLAN creations (such as Truxton, Zero Wing, or Snow Bros.), probably because of its erotic motifs, which caused many arcades to refuse to buy and exhibit this game in their shops.
Spy Bros.: Pipi & Bibi’s DXis an single-screen action-platforming game reminiscent of Snow Bros. and others of that time, where the players assume the role of Pipi and Bibi: two spies entering and bombing a series of six buildings protected by guards, scientists, divers, mob bosses, humanoid cats and other wacky individuals… and leaving the buildings just in time before they collapse from the explosions!
Unlike other recent re-releases of video games, this remaster does not include HD graphics, sound, or music enhancements. Instead, it aims to delight the retro gaming community with aesthetics and game mechanics faithful to the original video game, albeit with some improvements in game design and extra content.
What the above rundown neglects to mention, of course, is that after completing each stage, a portion of a scantily-clad pixelated woman will be unveiled, with the full picture viewable after completion of each core building - phew!
There's currently no word on price or specific release date for Spy Bros., but we'll be sure to update you when we know more. In the meantime, you can check out some gameplay of the original release below (just be aware that the pixelated women featured here are not entirely SFW).
Does this sound like it's up your street? Will you be picking it up? Let us know in the comments!

That massage game might have been shelved, but the pervert community is still eating good on the Switch.
In answer to the question about nostalgia for an unknown game...watching the video, I can kind of say...yeah. The music and audio of the game really ignited something within me, even though I know I've never played this before. Made me think of how I enjoyed so many arcade games as a kid, games like Burger Time and Elevator Action...
Pointless images of women aside (I like my sex appeal contextually relevant, not just thrown in games for kicks), the game looks interesting enough, but not for me.
So it's Elevator Action with lewd images tossed in between levels.
Someone out there probably has a thing for sexy pixels.
I was thinking about Plumbers Don't Wear Ties... There is still no release date, hm... It's remastered version was announced on E3 2021. And after that, we didn't heard anything about the game.
Damn, I was hoping for Gals Panic.
Now that's an erotic arcade game well worth revisiting! Excellent gameplay, kind of an evolution of Taito's Qix. I hope whoever owns the rights to that game right now, follows the example of these guys and releases a Switch version.
Bring Gals Panic back, please!
Could be fun. Will keep an eye on it.
I remember there were a lot of those arcade/puzzle games with gratuitous nude pictures thrown in. Some of them were probably hacks.
And the tradition is still alive with those mahjong/solitaire games with anime girls (or "girls") undressing as you progress.
@Kochambra I was going to comment this. I remember playing gals panic @ the arcades too. good times
@Not_Soos Heck yeah, it is!
Ahh, the days before the internet, when pixelated women in fairly demure underwear was considered erotic.
@nessisonett Trust me my friend as an enthusiast of gaming they're still are to me..... I mean to people I spoken to
Games with erotic content from the 80s and 90s would be actually tame today. The morality in video games, historically, has always interesting. It's still to the point that sex, in the United States is viewed more critically. Someone will have to explain to me why there are endless amount of games where you can shoot someone in the head, but it still is kinda forbidden to have interactive sex scenes.
Portion of a scantily-clad pixelated woman?
😊Sign me up 😊
😎 Oooo. Dat ankle doh 😎
All joking aside I've always thought Elevator Action was amazing in the arcades and still play it today. Maybe this is worth checking out
@Not_Soos Cry us a river. Adults can enjoy the media that they want, provided no harm or crime is being committed against real people. Everything else is fair game.
Never heard of this game! Hmm...if anyone finds this erotic they have issues lol.
@EVIL-C T'was a joke, bud. I'm not into that stuff, but I tried to leave my comment as neutral as possible so as to not get in the middle. I made a similar dumb joke under the article about the other game, where I said it seems to be "rubbing people the wrong way." I'm just trying to bring some levity.
This seemed like a perfectly normal video game which probably failed location testing, so they slapped boobs in it as a sales "fix".
I think it's sick when games do that.
@Not_Soos,
"Rubbing people the wrong way", now that does sound a little perverted.
Nothing wrong with a bit of sexual inyourendo!
Sounds like the ero element was lazily integrated, like a lot of those cashgrab "hentai" games on Steam that reveal a blurry JPEG of a naked chick to motivate people to purchase and play something otherwise subpar.
If a game is going to lean into the sexual element, best to have it be a core aspect of the game.
I played a lot this game with my brother, back in the day.
It's a great coop similar to Tumblepop or Snow Bros., don't let the erotic part fool you.
If you need video games as your source of pornographic images then you aren’t using the internet correctly!
There are some ecchi Qix clones on the Switch to, erm, satisfy that community, and even some mahjong titles (Hot Gimmick has been nerfed a little), but this is as far as I’ve seen an Arcade Archives title go.
Probably the most under-radar one I can think of is Taito’s Puzznic, but if that gets done I dare say they’ll lock those particular DIP switches off in the emulation.
I am properly surprised by how much H stuff the Switch has. I expected a few visual novels, sure, at least the purer ones - but chocolate baths, sir?! Still, I guess at least it puts paid to the ‘Nintendo Is For Kids’ mis-trope.
I remember playing this one as a kid, not knowing what I was getting myself into. It was actually a pretty fun game, though I did feel uncomfortable every time I completed a "world" and got to see my...ehem..."prize"....
this looks pretty good actually! and the "sexy" parts are a hoot!
im usually 🙄 about switch porn but i see this as a retro curio, a la leisure suit larry.
speaking of, id totally but a compilation of the first handful of LSL games on switch 👍
What will Jesus think
90s arcades were the days personally i dont understand games and the taboo about anything with flesh unless you have to kill it likely why past few generations suffer with increasing mental health problems
These days to get one wet you have to flush it down the toilet as agent 47
Delete that if you want but seriously look at the scales of excepted sin sold across the industry then judge i dare you
When you see Satan ask where's Karma?
On this note, doesn't anyone want to release Dancing Eyes for Switch?
Sears Catalogue: The Game
@Coffeemonster I found it conspicuous that Puzznic was left off the Taito mini console. Obviously using the Japanese ROM set would've raised the rating or limited its ability or something, but they could've used the western version.
Sharp X68000 was the only port I know of to have an option to play with or without the ero part (I can't imagine too many people personally owning a 68k, at the prices they sold for, like NEC's PCs, were probably mostly used as office machines).
@Ralizah Just what I was saying. It felt to me like a "quick fix" to a game performing badly on testing, rather than spend time coming up with gameplay improvements.
@Not_Soos I'm good I still got my Senran Kagura Reflexions
Those cheeky Spy Bros aren't just gonna spy around the areas they clear...
@GrailUK lol apparently you don't know how it works, ANYTHING, AND EVERYTHING can be twisted to be erotic.
@HXLXIII Yeah, it seems so.
